Ivy Muffins Darkstar and a small rant...(pictures)

okay, here's Ivy Muffins, the next (and probably last) in the Darkstar series.
I only do 'Darkstar' Ponies as commissions now. And since the original Darkstar herself has just sold (though the buyer isn't paying, grrrrrr!!! see below) they are quite a rarity in my customs ^_^

Hair: chocolate with a fat chesnut streak and a smaller black streak in the middle. Her tail is a mix of chocolate and chesnut.

okay, now for the mini rant :p
I hate non paying bidders on ebay! Darkstar (the original, one and only!) sold to china, they haven't paid and the address is so vauge I don't want to send darkstar! The buyer has said they want Darkstar but can I wait two weeks as the girl who bought her is on a modelling course? uh.. how about no?
What can I do? I want to keep darkstar now and they haven't paid yet.

PLUS my customs are selling for hardly anything, most only get 1 bid and they deserve so much more (IMHO) like this one (no offence to Hopscotch - little bay horses- because she's a great collector and I'm glad she won Stormy):

I would advise that you set up a starting bid or a reserve (I prefer seeing and using starting bids, but that's just me) if you feel you aren't getting enough for your customs. It's risky if you are looking to get at least a certain amount on something you are selling if you just leave it up to sheer luck and don't put a starting bid or reserve of the least you would accept for that item. :? Good luck with your custom selling! I totally feel ya and can definitely commisserate.
 
Personal opinion, i'm not a fan of the shiny ponies, is there any way to do them matte?

Obv people do like them because they're selling, but i do like mine to be, not exactly like original MLP's, but getting there hehe :D

Customs

I check in on custom ponies on Ebay pretty much every day since I like to see what's new and look at the pics, and it seems like customs have been a pretty slow sell all summer. Even some of the customs from the uber customizers (Woosie, etc.) don't seem to be selling for nearly what they usually do. Hopefully it will pick up soon - it definitely should pick up around Thanksgiving as the holiday shopping season kicks in to gear.
 
most defintely set your bids to what you will take no less for, regardless of how much it costs in ebay listing fees. many people get upset for not getting what they wanted out of an auction, well, i hate it for the seller, but they should have set the listing price to the minimum price of what they want for the item. and another thing to keep in mind is...i have seen a lot nice and htf ponies on ebay going pretty cheap, i think mostly because gas prices are so high, and people are just simply broke. so keep that in mind when listing your items as well...other wise your customs are very nice!

I wanted to bid on that Darkstar auction, but I missed the end of it :( Let me know if you ever consider selling her again or Ivy Muffins.


For your auctions, I suggest putting a reserve on them. I think this is Ebay's slow time.. more people will shop closer to the holidays.

I'm definitley going to start putting better prices on my customs, the customs on UK ebay have begun to sell at their proper prices so *fingers crossed*

oh yeah - Ivy is a little shiny, but the camera makes it much worse than she really is. I'm glad you like her Rabid Muffins ^_^

cool customs!

try not to let the ebay thing bother you. the market is just slow right now. Also so many people are now taking customizing up and copying the ones they like rather than buy one that i begin to wonder if the market will pick up much at all. Its depressing to see a great custom go for nothing, and even more to see one a blatent copy of someones hard work, go for alot more.

Definately dont give them away if you wont feel satisfied with what you get for it. Set the price at what you want and dont budge. Ebay fees are a hassle and you have to factor that in too. You put hard work and time in your customs (art), price it what it is worth to you. Ive had to re-list ponies many times, and still have to but in the end i will get what i realy want for them or they stay with me in my collection and look cool on my shelf, :)

Also, about the payment issue. If you cannot wait the time for a payment (some buyers take FOREVER), you have the right to say 'enough' and move on with things, just let them know the deal is off so they dont end up paying you later on. Some buyers on ebay realy know better, and drag it out for weeks.
I put a time limit on payment, say 7 days. Its a notice in the auction somewhere that payment due 7 days and if not will be relisted - similar anyway.

hmm, the only 'copies' I know...are the TE babies I'm trying :( but I did ask for full permission from Anna (Baggins Lover) to make them, and they aren't hasbro-babies...
...aaw crud now I feel bad for making them -_-

Well I knew How I would feel if someone suddenly started copying my ponies ^_^ so I don't ever want to be on the recieveing end of a fellow customiser's wrath! That and Baggins Lover makes such fantastic customs I wanted to make sure I didn't insult her by making something sub-standard to her idea without asking :?

..did that make ANY sense? :roll:

oh, I'm sorting that non-paying-bidder thing, Darkstar is staying with me :?
