This is a very specific question, but does anyone here have old pictures of G3s on display in stores like Toys R’ Us, Walmart, Target, or whatever?

I spent like an hour trying to find some on Google today but apparently MLP didn’t exist before G4 cause all I could find online was pictures of G4s in stores.

If you have any old pictures or know where some are, please show them to me here!

i swear i once saw a photoset of a display that had been in the toys r us times square store, but i can't for the life of me find it now. maybe i just hallucinated it.

i love those build-a-pony pics though, i remember raiding that when my mom took me to disney T_T

are you talking about the ferris wheel cart? i can't find a toy display of G3's there but i found this

are you talking about the ferris wheel cart?
not quite, but these are cool to see too! what i'm remembering is like a cardboard display of ponies with one of those fiberglass(?) promotional ponies on top, probably pinkie pie. don't take my word for it though, it could have been a display outside of NY or someones collection even

Oh my, I’m overwhelmed with the nostalgia these pics gave me!! Thanks so much for sharing!!! The Disney World display was especially near and dear to my heart cause I grew up in Florida and Downtown Disney (Disney Springs now) was the only part of Disney my family could afford to go to lol. I had my 10th birthday celebration there in 2009 and went with my best friend to Downtown Disney to the Build-A-Pony corner and I got 4 ponies and a bunch of Disney-themed accessories. I still have all the pieces and even the box the employee put them in for me! I guess I went there about 3-4 times in total during the 12 years I lived there. I remember going there after G3 had passed on into G4 and seeing that the pony corner was completely gone and replaced with various Disney princess dolls and toys. I was so heartbroken. I’m still sad about it lol.

What gorgeous displays! What was build a pony? How did that work? The display looks like it full of dried flowers or something :O

Build-A-Pony was a Disney-themed pony corner/display/experience thingie in a big Disney store inside Walt Disney World’s Downtown Disney (or Disney Springs, as it’s now called). People could come over and see the giant hot air balloon display full of ponies and accessories. The “dried flowers” are actually the pony outfits and accessories. They just filled up the tube thingies from the top so they’d spill out into a bin around the middle, like a candy tube! The ponies were in bins underneath. The ponies didn’t have magnets in their hooves, but instead they had non-magnetic plugs where their magnets would’ve been. There were also these touch-screen computer screens on the hot air balloon display that had some crude early-2000s 3D animated pony dress-up and other minigames that you could play. The whole Build-A-Pony experience was you pay for a little Disney-themed pony cardboard box and fill it with as many ponies and accessories as you could. When I was there for my birthday, an employee got me one of each from the 4 different ponies they had (Cinnamon Breeze, Golden Delicious, Spring Parade, and Piccolo (who I nicknamed Zip-e-dee Doo-da lol), 4 sets of each of the different Disney Princess outfits (Belle, Aurora, Cinderella, Snow White, Ariel, and a few random pieces like Tinkerbelle skirts, a Jasmine cape, and 4 Minnie Mouse outfits) and a couple of Mickey Mouse hair clips. She put all this into the little box and the thing could hardly close! I don’t remember how much the whole thing cost, but I think it was $30 or less (Cause everything at Disney is always expensive). I still remember ever bit of the visits I made to the MLP display at that Disney store. I would do anything to go back and experience it again (and get a crap ton of more stuff from it too!!). :ponylove:

I can post some pictures of all the stuff I got from it in another thread if anyone would be interested to see them!

yes please share those pics! that tidbit about paying to fit as many ponies/accessories in the box as you could is so neat to me. $30 seems pretty worth it. i'm so glad i got my hands on one of those boxes from jewel :twohearts:

I unfortunately don't have my old photobucket anymore cause I think I had a few. the build a pony was neat my friend got me two rounds when her sister and her family went for the national cheerleading at disney

What darling pictures! I'd totally ride in that pony ferris wheel.
