Sooooo, among my 500 other hobbies, I love fish. I've had up to 4 aquariums at one time. I've had tropical community tanks, betas, and goldfish. Goldfish and betas remain a favourite. Right now I just have one 40 gallon aquarium with cold water fish. Two goldies, two dojo loaches, and one bristle nose pleco.
My one goldfish, Sho Nen, is three years old. A lot of people don't know this but goldfish can live into their 20s with the proper care. Anyway, Sho Nen's tank mate passed away mysteriously last year and I hadn't gotten a new friend just in case there was disease and then I ended up moving... so I thought I'd finally get her some new friends now that I'm settled.
I went to the petstore and picked out two decent sized babies (big enough that Sho Nen couldn't gobble them, some goldfish are cannibals, some aren't) and brought them home. My giant 3-4 inch goldfish was terrified of the two new babies, I took a video because it was hilarious:

She literally hid under that floating moss for five minutes before coming out to see the other fish.
She is now ecstatic and following the one calico all over the place! It's great to see them swim together.
Anyway, long story short, the little white one died over night last night I had a bad feeling by the way it was starting to get lethargic. What a shame.
There are luckily no signs of disease in the tank, I am going to do a bit of a water change anyway to be on the safe side. I'm just a little bummed out.
I'll probably wait a month before I get another one to make sure that everyone else is healthy. Ah well. I guess this stuff happens.
Anyway, had to get it off my chest. Thanks for reading!
Here's a picture of Sho nen when she's all flashy:
