The final art project for my Portfolio class is to take a motif and repeat it 6 different times on 6 x 6 inch squares in 6 different art styles. I chose...a My Little Pony!! Specifically, Twirler. So...today I spent 5 hours making the manga-style square...and I wanted to show you all because I'm really proud of it!! If you like what you see, I'll make a point to post the other 5 images up here once I'm done
For those of you curious as to how it was done, the original sketch was done in pencil in my notebook, traced onto thicker paper with Sharpie, and screentoned 'til the cows came home. Err, the ponies. The Japanese in the rectangle says "New" (Atarashii) and the text in the burst say "My Little Pony" in katakana. For the record, the border around it is actually extra supplies I used to make it >_> it's not actually part of the square. But it's artsy.
Finally, I got to use my Japanese skills and my love of manga and My Little Pony in a school art project Take that, art teacher!
