Oh wow, that’s cool.. I love your orange wolf. What does somebody do with an adoptable once they buy it?

I got a question for you though! I've been trying to sell my art for like a month now but no takers is there something I'm doing wrong?

I'd love to answer that as someone who's also tried to sell their art... it's just hard. You're not doing anything wrong, but there's so many factors at play to work on and consider that it can get overwhelming. Just to give a range of options, it could be that you're targeting the wrong audience, that your personal style is maybe not to someone's taste, that your prices aren't to someone's liking, competing with other artists on the platform... and so on and so forth.

For example I tried uploading my commision sheets on a furry server, but there were so many other artists at my skill level doing the same, at cheaper prices and more frequent posting, so much so that I just couldn't keep up! It's a lot of luck, time and effort. So for sure don't give up after having only been at it for a month! You got this!

To still give you some tips though, I would make a commission sheet! One or two sheets with prices and examples gives potential customers a nice overview of what you can do at a glance. And if you're sharing examples, I think the best way to do it is with a clean image - so phone screenshots or photos of screens I wouldn't do. Not because it's "wrong"! But you lose so much quality of your art, and it looks just that bit more professional! (And if someone is being a meanie, they might even say you stole or downloaded the art to your photo album... I know that's happened to me sadly.)
I'm very passionate about art myself so if you have any more questions feel free to ask! I can't promise to have answers, but I like to try :winkpony:

As a professional side tip as an illustrator: it might help you feel confident to look up the copyright laws in your zone.
Not that anyone of us can afford a copyright lawyer, but being aware of how things work will help you value your work.

Generally speaking these things are very different:
1. selling someone a copy of an image means you get to retain copyright of your image and can go ahead later and sell other copies of the same image.
2. selling someone the image, means they own the copyright, and you can't sell copies of it later.
3. ideas can't be copyrighted because you can only copyright actual images, so they can be stolen.

...
So like 2 is done only rarely: mostly for the Postal Service for stamp design and for professional logo designs and the like.
1 is a gentleman's agreement, but it's often misunderstood by people new to creative work, thinking things work like 2.
3 is where people worry about plagiarism, and rightly so, because depending on where you live, a certain percentage of someone's image has to be altered by another before that another can claim someone's image as their own. (In the UK it was something like 17.5%.)

My concern is that most artists are unaware of these distinctions, and hidden in the terms and agreements of websites, unwittingly upload images to a site that has made an agreement with you to simply claim their work as their own for commercial use. With the free proliferation of image sharing, these distinctions have been kinda been steamrolled flat. Everyone just piles in then feels bad later when occasionally things get coopted by corporations or individuals.

There are ways of being cautious, like never uploading high quality images for free, but really, REALLY, you really should feel confident of what you're willing to balance out between the chance for self-promotion on-line and making money selling jpegs and prints.

In any case

:orangeheart: :tuneful:<3
I want you to have all the power of knowing your rights as an artist.
