My eBay G3 Kimono Dilemma

Once upon a time, I won a Kimono pony from a seller in the UK. The auction ended on May 27th and I paid right away. Thinking that it'll take a little time to get all the way over here, I gave it a couple of weeks. WELL, the husband brought in an envelope yesterday that was from the UK. I was SO excited!! I ripped it open and LOW and BEHOLD ----->

Hmmmm...this is the auction link ---> http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5976975313&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWN:IT&rd=1

That's a Kimono that he listed, right? My eyes aren't deceiving me, right? I guess I kind of took a gamble since his feedback is less than favorable and it really wasn't that much. I e-mailed him RIGHT AWAY and attached this exact picture to it. I asked him if this was a mistake and how was it going to be resolved. NO answer. Perhaps he's kind of slow getting back? Or do you think I have been had? I will try to remain patient since this happened just yesterday. But you think a seller would respond ASAP if there were any issues. In any case, I'm going to file with eBay and paypal should he not answer by the end of the week.

I just wanted opinions. How would you react if you were expecting a Kimono and THIS guy popped out of the bag??? It's kind of funny since he's SOOOOO ugly!! Ughhh...Hopefully I'll hear something from him soon.

Sorry to hear that happened to you...seems like a classic case of bait'n switch!
Did you notice if the pony you recieved was on any of the sellers other "closed/open" auctions?
That pony could not possibly be mistaken for the Kimono pictured in the auction.

I would file with Paypal & eBay ASAP.

I would be beyond upset. I guess it could possibly be another auction and it got misshipped, but I ighly doubt it. Did he send any note with the package? I think I would file too. how rude.

Yeah. At least it's a light purple  and I hope he's not thinking I'll be stupid enough to think that THESE are the Xmas markings and that I'll just walk away. This pony has Xmas candy markings on her. She's just in horrible condition. And there's no note or anything. What you see is exactly what I got. I think I'll give it one day for him to respond (you know...give the seller some time to make good) and then I'll file. This is the first time out of my six year eBay career that anything like this has ever happened. I'm just glad it wasn't a high-priced item. I would be beyond PO'd and extremely impatient!! OH...and no, I didn't see any other auctions that were ponies. I looked at everything he had sold during the auction time and after. I really hope it's a mistake and he'll fix it. A negative would hurt him more than it would me.

What is that thing? I would be shocked if I was expecting a cute little pony and that thing crawled out of the envelope. Definitely file with pay pal and Ebay.

that's a lanard fakie. correct me if i'm wrong, but aren't they fairly sought-after?
EDIT: guess not, i found an old arena post where one was being sold for $2. oh well. too bad it's not one of the lanard unicorns! then you could poach the horn and make a neat g3 unicorn!

Sounds like another case of attack of the fakies, to me.
Poor Kimono! It must have been awful to be transmogrified into that thing! They're evil, I tell 'ya! E-V-I-L!!!

Seriously, though--I'd file right away. Even if it was an honest mistake, he needs to take care of it. At least you didn't pay a fortune!

In the auction it says...

Nice little Pony with Xmas markings

The "Xmas markings" comment throws up red flags. I'd say you were duped. File a claim and try to get him in trouble.

I noticed that too...but Kimono's symbol could also be mistaken as Christmas themed...they do kinda look like X-mas tree ornaments. So that comment wouldn't have concerned me...especially when the pic in the listing is of Kimono.

yup

I would definitely file an "Item Significantly not as described" dispute.

I agree about the comment about Christmas markings: Kimono's symbol looks a lot like Christmas balls to me so that would not have made me outright suspicious.

Thanks guys. I will file tomorrow just because I am a seller also and would like a chance to resolve issues before going forward. Plus I'm going through this MASSIVE lot of G1s, G3s and fakies I won on eBay that came in the mail today. :D So that made me MUCH happier!!! I need to get them all inventoried, seperated and then into the bath they go. Then off to play poker tonight!! :) I will make sure to file if I don't hear anything by tomorrow and will let everybody know what happens. I appreciate all the responses. I agree that I got duped. Feels kind of like a punch in the stomach. But I will NOT be taken!! :p

Woah! Everyone calm down! Take a breather!

Talk about heart rates skyrocketing (and the situation snowballing!)

It's probably just an honest mistake. He probably accidently put the wrong pony in the wrong envelope. Everyone makes mistakes.

Either way, I don't think he did it on purpose. He's got pretty good feedback, with the exception of a couple of buying negs a long time ago; he seems to have been up to par since then.

I understand you're worried about Kimono, but try to to panic. :) I personally would give him a couple of days to respond before filing anything. I'd hate to ruin someone's reputation before giving them a chance to fix a mistake they made. And you just emailed him yesterday - give him a day or 2 to respond. He's not a powerseller, so he's not necessairly going to check his email every day.

That's what I was originally going to do...give him a few days. I had asked him about shipping before the auction closed and it took him a little over a day to respond. I guess I got a little excited...it's probably because of all these new faces that I put all over my desk. Sometimes LOT auctions can overwhelm a person. I will continue to remain patient...I mean...it did get here in a resonable amount of time for it being overseas, so that was an A in my book. Thanks for giving me a good smacking. :D I needed to be brought back to how eBay needs to work. Communication and patients. :worthy: Thank you wise one!

I would take a screenshot right away in case he takes the picture down.

It could be an honest mistake, but even so you didn't get what you thought you were bidding on. He needs to either send you Kimono or refund you.
