Hi all

I found some G1 ponies at a thrift store today. It rekindled my love for these guys. So I go into my basement and hauled up my bin of G1 ponies I had since I was a kid.

I fell down the rabbit hole of cleaning and sorting. Oi. I have 48 ponies not including doubles and some damaged ones that I’m not sure what to do with. I’m really sad to see many are missing, which I think my nieces took and I know I will never get them back. I’m hoping to find them for cheap to replace.

Anyway, here’s a photo of most of them. I have about 10 I still need to clean which are gross.

My favorite is the Celebrations family collection. As a kid, Braide and Whirly Twirl were my favorites.

How do you guys organize your ponies? By year? Pose?

I’m debating on either selling doubles or trying custom for kicks, I’m seeing some photos in the custom section and they look awesome!

Welcome in!! Glad to have you! :D Thats a great collection! Sorry to hear about some missing. I dont usually organize mine, I just rotate out which ones to display since I have limited space. Usually which ever ones I wanna look at, at the time. Just be careful not to have the curtains open and the sun shining on the ponies for long periods. :winkpony:

You are correct, that is baby Tumbleweed. Excellent eye!

They are far from a window, thankfully, lol

Question. Im looking at ebay to try to get ponies that are missing from my childhood days. Firefly is one of them. I see two for cheap, one with an excellent body and mark. but mane is cut and has aged marks. Another has a perfect head, the mark is faded. Both would be $15. Would it make sense and worth it to buy both and swap the heads for a better shape pony? Maybe I'll use the damaged one as bait?

As for display, it depends on your space and what you want to see. I had mine by generation, set, pose, and color. Now I just have my favorites up front and rotate as desired.

Welcome! A good mix of ponies! There's no real order to my display, other than what looks best together. I try to keep the less pristine ponies away from the better condition ones. Shy poses ponies look good in a row displayed side on.
