I wanted to share the project that has been taking most of my spare time lately!
The backstory: as a child we had a village for under the Christmas tree made of yarn and plastic canvas that was stitched by my grandma. I love this village. I think it is such a unique village, no one I knew growing up had anything like it. Knowing my sister and I both have sentimental attachment to it, I have been searching for the patterns to make my own for at least TWO DECADES. I had finally given up hope of ever finding them... last November I was searching for something unrelated on ebay, and there was part of the village! It was a kit! I found a brand name!
Finally armed with more information than I ever had before, I was able to locate the patterns for all the buildings, plus 4 I had never seen! They were generously shared with me by some members of a fb crafting group. Then began my questto find yarn colors close to the originals and teach myself how to stitch and work plastic canvas.
Here is my finished village! I still have a train depot and covered bridge to make, but have decided to wait on those until after Christmas so I can focus of girft crafts for the fall.
And I have now discovered I really enjoy making plastic canvas projects and have begun to experiment with my own patterns...
More fun to come!!
