Hey pony peeps, looking to get some other opinions on price ideas for a couple rare items.

Through a friend of a friend I ended up actually meeting a new member looking for help with selling her childhood ponies :) @spino3 came to my house this past weekend with her tote of MLPs looking for help and advice.

She has about 20 ponies, mostly common ones but most are in great condition and then she pulls this box out that makes my heart skip a beat LOL
Mail order complete set of collector ponies, each MIP with original shipping box. :shock: And a MIP with box Baby Lucky!

My immediate inclination was maybe 300.- 500. for the collectors set but you guys know how crazy the pony market can be, what do you think? I looked for SOLD listings on eBay to confirm my thoughts. Closest references I could find were a MIP Butterscotch sold for 35. and 2 poor condition MIP Mintys for 21. but then in a shocking turn of events I saw a listing for the whole set MIP with box sold a month ago for 300.00, but that was a BIN, I have to wonder what an auction would go for???

And then there is Lucky, I was originally thinking 150?? But when I him out to photograph tonight I see he does have age spots starting on his face so I think that will diminish his value.

What do you guys think, I know there are some current MIP collectors listed for 150-200 each but those are BIN that are probably not likely to sell anytime soon for that price based on what I found in the sold listings.

And just FYI, I will be posting up pony sales this weekend, or next weekend the latest for her. She decided to leave her herd with me to handle selling so keep an eye out for some sales coming soon :D

Here is some eye candy;

WOW! ThNk you so much for sharing gnthose photos, what a great! It’s so sad that age spots can hit even new in the package :( Does Lucky have his bow tie?

Also, I gotta know the story… Did she order those as a kid? If so, why not unpackage them? And most importantly….why keep the box?? I always wonder! :satisfied::winkpony:

My mom sent away for both of those and she hid them in the closet without telling me for YEARS, until she knew I understood those were for collection and to not bother them. So when I found all my other ponies years ago, she just gave them to me. Honestly, they say in a closet for years!! I didn’t know people collected them like that!

It’s interesting the Lucky looks like he has some brown spots like mine does. I got him early in my collecting so I haven’t needed to look at others, so I didn’t realize it might be a trait of them. Of course it could just be the lighting in the pictures here.

Hopefully you get a nice offer for them! <3

I've seen the sold listings go all over the place all the time too for the MIP MO collector ponies, and if I were selling this set, I think a ballpark of $450 OBO for the full set of 6 would be fair--that would put them at $75 each, and I think there would be a lot to be desired in having the full set of 6 all at once, from the same place.

Having the original shipping box could easily boost the lot to $500, though.

I have not bought or sold any myself in many years, so this is just off the top of my head and where I would begin if I were in the seller's shoes. ;)
