so, i've never actually put a paintbrush to any ponies before until now. i'm too unsure in my abilities to try an actual regular G3 figure, so i started with the next best thing- the G3 McDonalds toys! i've had a star swirl ever since i was a child and i recently cleaned her. her tail's always bothered me- it's a shade of purple that doesn't match up with her bright pink hair and i always noticed it. so i decided to spruce her up a bit. here's what she looked like before... (not my pic)
and a pic of the 1st -> 4th layer of white...
i used some acrylics & occasionally watered it down when seen fit. i tried to make it as smooth as possible though it was a little hard with so many layers. i painted over with white, then the hot pink & made some adjustments.
and this is her finished result! both sides of the tail & between her legs were painted (with a regular small paintbrush & a toothpick on the forehead). i love how she came out. it's not a lot, but i'll say i'm proud since this is technically my first venture into pony painting. maybe i'll try something on my butterscotch toy (next to her) but i have no ideas atm. i don't know if this counts as a "custom" but i guess it's close.
