There is a secret place in my city called Walhalla Ravine, where I go to take a walk two or three times a week. You pull down a normal-looking road between two normal-looking city blocks, and suddenly you are transported to a fantastical little land! I like to pause and watch the birds taking a bath in the stream, or the squirrels chasing each other around. Sometimes I forage mushrooms there or watch the deer play. On occasion, I have an encounter with a majestic hawk or regal stag.

Tonight, I locked eyes with a barred owl!

I created this thread so we can share our photos of the critters we see in the wild. I would love to hear about your animal encounters, as well as have someplace to share my own!

Those are lovely photos! I've mostly always lived in the country and have had some interesting animal encounters. The only thing I have on my phone is a group of baby opossums I raised and released.
Omg they're so cute!! I'm obsessed with opossums lol

There's a wooded area across the street so we have a lot of back yard visitors! Deer, raccoons, skunks, opossums, occasionally a fox. These pics are from last year but they're part of our regular herd. There's three that visit a lot but sometimes 10-15 will show up!

AHHH they're so CUTE!!! You did a really good thing for those little bebes, I bet they are all out there just doing their possum things and having a grand old time thanks to you! :ponylove:

Those are some good looking deer! There used to be a big herd behind my Nana's house when I was growing up. In the fall they would get drunk from eating fermented apples off the ground! :lolpony:

an item on my bucket list is to pet a deer (like, a living one lol)

I've done that and I even got to touch velvety horns.

Not much wildlife in the suburbs here but a couple weeks ago I pulled out the driveway at night and noticed something odd shaped on the road in front of my house, as I slowly drove towards it the lights hit it and it was an owl! Just standing there in the road, he flew off as I crept up but that was weird.
