Hello there all!
Explaining and typing is difficult, but I will try. I will likely forget to mention some details.
This is the spot where I will post information and updates regularly about this pony game we are creating.
With we I mean myself and a small and cozy group of artists, musicians and testers. (let me know id you'd like to join this group)
About the game:
It is playable in the browser.
You can create charachters and form groups with other players to compete against mobs and bosses in Dungeons to earn rewards and exp.
Each charachter has unique stats, skills and has their own weaknesses and strengths.
As of now:
> These characters can be made: Unicorn, Pegasus, Earth Pony, Dragon, Changeling, Yak, Gryphon, Hippogryf, Buffallo and Kirin
These basic charachters have 3 basic skills unique to their race.
Characters can equip a weapon and an armor piece and may carry up to 5 items such as potions.
> When the character reaches level 6 and has masterd it's (usually 3) basic skills, it can choose a specialisation (1 - 4 specialisations are possible, and are unique to the species). Generally, each specialisation has one of the following roles:
Damage: These characters specialise in dealing damage.
Tank: These characters specialise in absorbing damage for the team.
Healer: These characters secialise in healing their friends.
Tricks: These characters use special effects and tricks.
Each specialisation has 4 new skills.
> Crafting can now be done. You can craft weapons and armor and even boost the stats if you have a forging manual.
> You can upgrade weapons and armor to make them stronger, or reduce their required level. You do this by using Power Orbs.
> You can watch your inventory and discard things or put them in your store (shop) for sale to other players.
> You can visit the school shop to buy potions and some other goodies.
> The library has sorts of information for you.
> Dungeons can be started, and if your level is too high, your level will be automaticaly alterd to match the dungeon, making it replayable with new friends and new characters.
What is on the to do list as of now?
Making the art.
There is still lots to do on this end. Art, some small animations. It adds up. Since I myself am not good at drawing, other members of the team are doing this. We are still welcoming artists on this project. And the design of the game/rooms/tabs. Still needs some tweaking.
Music and sound effects
We are quite okay with the current state of music. We still need to look into sound effects though. Players have the option to change the music and sound effect volume.
The Story
We are also working a little on the story and how to implement it. Also, a team of testers is required (you may volunteer) to check for spelling and grammar errors.
Programming
Lots of programming has to be done on the battle and dungeon system mostly. But also on other parts of the game.
Open Beta means that it will be an unfinished game.
If you want a game that feels finished, with good art everywhere, finished animations and (almost) no bugs and a finisehd story line, I strongly suggest you wait untill it is finished. We can put you on the mailinglist (contact me for this) or you can join our Discord group (contact me for this) and request the PMQ role (then you can mute the server, but you will get pinged for messages about the game).
The purpose of the open beta is for testing purposes only. We will steer the game depending on the feedback we receive.
I would also like to add: This is a free to play game, made by a small group of fans, do not expect results as you would expect from studios with a high financial budget.
