Has anyone noticed that G4 ponies have gone up in price where they live? I went to Target and CVS today and the ponies that were formally $5.00 are now almost $9.00. I don't know about you all, but I'm pretty disappointed. I used to be able to come home with a few ponies but now I'll be lucky to get one once in a while.

I noticed that too! I bought a FS PP from Walmart and they are usually $12.88 and now they are almost $15! They also raised the price of the story sets to $12.88 from about $10. I don't understand.

My walmart keeps jumping the price for the G4 singles all over the place...it goes from $3.69 to $5.96 every couple of weeks...so annoying! Zellers and Shoppers drugmart had them for like $10-ish...No real breaks here since they are currently back to $5.96

Over here it's usually $9 for a single regular G4 pony (AUD is pretty similar to USD). Target had an end of financial clearance sale and dropped the price to $4 which is ok.. surprised you guys have it cheaper on a regular basis though!

Kmart isn't exactly cheap either. $7 for a single. I don't buy G4s very much, though.

Maybe I have just missed the price jumping, but most of the G4's I have gotten (the singles) have been a constant $5. With the glimmer wings being closer to $9. I don't like hearing that they are starting to cost so much in so many places though....because it means sooner or later it's going to be the case here too.

I totally can believe that unfortunately! But I doubt they'd completely disregard parents.. I think it might just be the fact that now this version of MLP has a flashier TV show than in the past.
I guess since FiM is such a hit they figure they are not only cashing in on bronies, but also little girls who are fans of the show. And, as always, there are collectors such as ourselves. And since Hasbro is, obviously, the only MLP manufacturer, they control the entire market. We are a captive audience, and now that the audience has grown so large, they know they can make a killing off their products. Good marketing, as they are able to hike up the prices as much as they reasonably can. Bad for us, the bronies, and the little girls' parents, though.

I was under the impression that the singles with DVD's are usually more than a single without. Of course, I'm not really buying much in the G4 department, so maybe I'm off the mark there.

Chloesmama, I know.... this is why I've been focusing on adding to my g3 collection more than my g4's....if I find a g4 I don't have for a reasonable price and I have a little extra $$ on me, then yeah, I'll buy it.

I've bought singles with and without the DVD and they've been the same price. The singles without any MAJOR extras are still 5.00 by me at my walmarts, but the more extras you encounter, the higher the price. I found FS Luna and Celestias at a Walmart by me for 14.96, and looked online at ebay at those asking 25+ per pony, so I'm gathering 15 is pretty good.

The prices are definitely going up. I sure won't be coming home with bundles of ponies anymore. I was a little disappointed with G4 anyway. They are cute, but they are much smaller than former generations, and most of them look nothing like the show's characters. And as one of you said, I too am going to focus on buying G3 ponies instead.

Yeah that's what I was thinking too. I only recently started watching the new show and its cute but I don't want to collect any of the ponies except for the mane characters that come in a very small form and look exactly like their characters on tv, the bigger ponies don't. Their heads are just WAY too big. The little tiny ones already cost $2.99 plus tax.

What I do not understand is how they do not match Hasbro.com. The prices in the stores are way higher than what you can get online. :(
I think it's because technically, the store is the "middle man" between you and Hasbro. When you buy from the store, both the store and Hasbro are trying to make a profit, whereas if you buy from Hasbro, they are the only ones looking to make the profit. So, if Hasbro makes the same profit whether they sell it to you directly or through a store, the lower price will be directly from them because the store tacks on money to what they've already paid so they can make money too. If that makes any sense.

There is an across the board (all properties, not just MLP) price increase coming out of Hasbro, effective pretty much immediately, supposedly to cover the rising shipping costs they have been incurring. In most cases with action figures or similar small products like ponies it's a $1 price hike. Curiously, their trading info shows some dips lately, with MLP in particular called out as not selling well. Personally, I blame that on the amount of repacked product vs new. Folks will buy stuff when they don't have it already, but not if it's the same stuff with new accessories.

IMO, if they're going to hike up the prices, they should increase the sizes of the toys. I couldn't imagine having a little kid and have them lose all of the pieces. One chomp by a dog and that's the end of the 6+ - dollar toy. :(

Definitely. I bought G3s for around the same price.
