Most of my ponies have been fine as I sort through my totes after a decade, but what has happened to poor Glitterbelle?
Everywhere she has changed to the orangey color is missing the glitter too. What is this?

Is this the plasticizer thing @strawberrypony32 ?

This happens with divine shine ponies over time, how fast depends on the conditions theyre kept in! Hasbro didnt formulate their vinyl very well so it literally absorbs and eats the glitter when this happens. Super weird!! i would say if shes sticky (they usually are due to plasticizer leakage) give a room temp or cool wash with mild soap, make sure she dries well then store her away from UV in a temp controlled environment. :satisfied: Its sad this happens, but at least we can love and care for the ponies even if Hasbro didnt.:twohearts: picture from MLPcollection.com

She is the first casualty I've found which isn't bad for a decade of storage, but yeah, she is kinda sticky. Do they normally change color too?
She hasn't been in UV... packed away in a baggie and inside of a tote.

that's unusual, but I confess, it actually looks pretty cool! I hope she isn't sticky, I'd display her like that, lol. One of a kind!
Yeah, my wife was like, "I like her this way" so after I wipe her down, she might go on a shelf.

I edited my first reply to show a picture but this is super common with divine shines :( A lot of them discolor like that. Ive seen many a Glitterbelle looking the same! Heat can also effect it even without UV.

Thats such a good idea!! It unfortunately happens a lot T_T Even MIB ones because the vinyl wasnt made right. I do think the solid clear look is pretty cool too! :D
More example pics!

She's less attractive when she's full changed like this. Will mine continue to change, or will she stay mixed like she is right now?
Is there anything people can do to slow the progress?

ETA You posted while I was composing. Some of those are actually super cute. I like this weird purple-orange girl I have though.
Thanks for answering :D

Theres a good chance she may fully change, i dont think theres any way for us to tell. If im not mistaken, anyone is free to chime in, I dont think there is a cure per sey. I think just keeping her washed every 4-6 months to keep her from being sticky is the only way to hopefully slow the process? :0
Youre welcome always! :purpleheart:

Whilst my childhood Glitterbelle has no change at all, I did find one in a primary school who only had a sparkly head! I also found a full sparkly one in a charity shop as well. Your one like she has a pretty unique glitter pattern like a sparkly nebula fading into a cloud. I can see why your wife likes her
