Hi there,

I just finished my latest custom. :D I just thought I'd experiment, and before I knew it, I had created the best custom that I've done yet. ;)

Made from a baity SS Skippity Doo, I'd say Icey's body colour is quite close to the original Ice Crystal's, however - since I don't own one personally, I really can't give a direct comparison.

Skippity Doo was already half deflocked from being played with. She had a moehawk and her tail was only about 3 and a half inches long. Not to mention that it was dry and slightly frizzy. The flocking had also yellowed/browned over time, and it wasn't exactly what you'd call a pretty pony... ^^;

So the other day Crystal Shimmer came over when I decided to deflock a SS Buttons. She wanted to deflock too so I told her that she could take a go at Skippity. ;) All we used was Nail Varnish Remover (mostly), and it seemed to work very well. Crystal did most of the deflocking of Skippity, and later I sprayed some Goof-Off on her to get the rest of the glue off. There is still some random flocking hairs here and there, but not too bad.

I thought I might want to restore Skippity Doo, but then I noticed the familiar body colour. The next day I went to the craft store and got my supplies. And that's where it all began...

So without further ado (or my random useless yapping.. :p), I present to you - Rearing Pose Ice Crystal! (please be aware that these cheesy pics DO NOT do him any justice!)

Here are some before-completion-pics:

Those are when I just started the rehair, and before the symbols or freckles. Speaking of symbols, here are a few (poor) pics of what his symbols look like. They have been completely hand painted with acrylics. No stencils were used.

For some reason, in some of these pics his hair looks pink. :? His hair is actually 100% pure MLP hair - white with an emerald green streak. Here are some pics of his face. His eyes have been partially repainted (only the iris) and his freckles are hand painted by looking at Applejack's freckles. :)

He is also signed and dated under one hoof:

Enjoy! :D Thanks to Crystal Shimmer for helping me deflock him! ^_^ His symbols, eyes, and freckles are also all heavily sealed for maximum durability. I hope to do many more customs like him in the future! All comments welcome. ;)

Awww! In my opinion his symbols are a bit big, but I can imagine it would be hard to get them so tiny. Otherwise, he's (or she-since pony doesn't have hairy feet?) fabulous! I never would have put Skippity Doo and Ice Crystal together that way. Bravo Yuixe!

Ah well - every customiser still has some things to learn. ^_^

Heh, yes - he's a boy, regardless of the feet. :p

Nice job, I like him! :D Maybe next time you could do some experimenting with sculpey for the feet?

*is reminded of when Jewel attempted a rearing Icey out of a non-rearing pony... hehe*

LOL maybe, but I think that maybe the Sculpey would have made him too heavy and he would keep falling over. Right now he stands perfectly without any sort of stand or support, even though he's in the rearing pose. He doesn't even wobble. Also, it would be near impossible to match his body colour to the paint for the Sculpey. :) You know?

Having done some customs of Icey, I can tell you that he may *look* easy to do, but he is, in reality, quite difficult!

WELL DONE! I've always wanted to attempt a rearing custom, but never had the bait to do so (or the guts, LOL! )

Congrats on a fantastic job!!

RE

Wow that was a really unique idea you had for
Ice Chrysatl I lovhim he is one of The
Moution Boy ponies I really want i want the other's to but I don't have any of them.
PGR :)

You did a great job! As for the sculpey making him tip over, all you'd have to do is put a little more sculpey on his back feet than the front, and that would actually help him stand up I bet. :) But I do agree with you that the color could be hard to match, so I think he's great just the way he is, feathered hooves or none.

:)

Very nice! My only crit would be about the feet needing some feathering, to make it really look male.

I think he's great--I like the way the symbols came out. Good job!

He's so pretty!!!! Er.. handsome. ^_^ He's one of my favorite boys, and you stuck him in my favorite pose! EEE! XD

Great job on the symbols!! *Jaw drops* You did those by HAND??? They look awesome!!
