Red vs. Blue

I definitely know all the ponies I have and all my daughter's mh collection as well. I also won't let myself collect the accessories or playsets.

Also, at least in my case, the people who say I'm hoarding both have collections. One has over 1000 pig figurines, plushies, magnets, etc, and the other has the same only chickens.

 Ooh...Pot meet Kettle. That's what you should say to them.

I think many people have this reaction when they "discover" someone's collection. I've had friends whose reaction was along these lines. "Isn't it a problem that you live with 700+ ponies?!?!" What they don't realize is that my collection didn't spring fully formed into the world. I've been collecting for 20 years, it's been a gradual growth. But all they see is the sheer number of ponies and so they focus on "the mass". They spend money on things they love too, but that's not where their minds go.

Many good points about the differences between horders and collectors have already been listed. I'll also mention that collectors tend to know what they have in their collection because they're paying attention ( maybe not every little piece, but for the most part).

Well how do they expect you to take on the forces of evil without your pony army? Silly people!

I feel I'm a bit compulsive about stashing baits and customs

I have 1 tub of customs, 2 tubs of baits and a box of "planned baits" and a shelf full of completed customs

I clean but my home is always cluttered because it is tiny apartment and I am a family of 4 with 2 kids....

I don't know if I'm considered a collector or a hoarder

Possibly border-line hoarder.... I've kept a lot from my own childhood, teen years and young adult shopping days

Since you sell your customs and the baits are needed for that, it's a part of your income.

As for clutter, most people I've seen have some, as long as you still leave room for the important things, workspace, eating space, cooking space, and playing space, etc, I think it's pretty normal for how busy most families are.

I'm obsessive about clutter. Diagnosed ocd by a psychologist, not myself, so I admit to a skewed look at what's ok to live in. I'm not comfortable in other places, too. So my house leans towards looking like a model home. My degree in interior design probably didn't help. It's incredibly difficult for me when my daughter has friends over and it's taken 8 1/2 years to accept some disorder and disorganization in her room. :rolleyes:o_O I'm a nutter.

When I had my own house my mom used to ask me why were toy every where? I simply said cause it's my house. Now that I have to live at home she says why do toy have to be all over your room? I simply say cause it's my room.

I bet ocd really helps you be a good designer though.

Closest thing to a home designer I am though is I'm addicted to Animal Crossing xD
My home designs are cluttered too with as much furniture as I can fit as long as there is a walking path xD

But now he watches Friendship Is Magic with me and sings along with it

I'VE TRAINED HIM WELL

Also helps that he's always liked unicorns too
