That's a major ouch. I was 11 and fell off my horse. I ruptured the synovial fluid sac in my hip. Oh, so, painful. They gave me the option of taking a month long rest since I was at a good age for it to repair itself, or re-inflating the sack with synthetic fluid that my body would absorb as it created it's own. This was two weeks after the injury since my mom hates doctors so the sac itself had scar tissue, but was healed. The needle was the same size they used yesterday, but back then I wasn't as used to being a meat sack and it scared me far away from that option. It was way longer than my fingers! That's the only time I ever took a break from ballet, and the only time a needle scared me.
Anyway, the point is that I was told to expect that hip to fail me in my late 40's to early 50's. We shall see.
