Okay, another silly question from me to you.... why are some ponies squishier then others? *Ponders*:confusedw:

I'm pretty sure it's something to do with the chemical composition of the plastic. The Twinkle Eyes seem to be prone to the rock hard body, while foreign ponies tend to be squishier. I haven't noticed it as much with the G3s, but, say... *squeezes Trickles* hard *squeezes North Star* soft. Different batches of plastic, I suppose...

Getting them hot also makes them squishy, as my friend found out after she'd left her ponies in the car too long with her luggage after coming home from college. They're pretty much back to normal now. :tonguew:

I think it depends on where they come from, my Italians are lovely and squishy, my US/UK are hard as nails.

I've always thought it was because the last pony in the batch didn't get as much plastic poured into their mold as all the others. I have a Big Brother Bright Boquet, and his hooves are very squishy.

All happy tails I've come across are delightfully squishy. :squid:
(they need to be, I love the little swingy tails they have! wouldn't work if they were hard as rocks.)

I used to have a detailed sientific page about vynil in my links, but it's gone. Simply put a main reason for how squishy ponies are is dependent on the amount of plastizicer in the blend. :)

More soft ponies I've noticed are Moondancer, Peachy and Co. (1983's), Adult Sea Ponies, and there are more. but I'm totally drawing a blank.

Most SS ponies, TE's, Sweet Steps Ballerina's, 1986's princess' I've come across are on the "rock hard" side.

hi

i have 2 boyenberry pie ponys and the one from china is squishy and the one from hong kong is so hard i am sure it could be used as a hammer or something
not to mention the color difference

Hi Drusilla! :) I have noticed the color variations also! Our two triple treats are very different in color as well as one is squishy and the other not so much.

All these are great theories! Thank you guys for all the awesome replies!

I haven't noticed a wide variety of squishiness in my G1 girls. However, my big brother ponies are really hard, and my theory on them is that Hasbro was *trying* to market to boys (though why they made them pink, I don't know) and made their boy ponies more durable.

Other than that, I have no clue!
