Welcome to the Trading Post’s first ever…
Now, you’re probably wondering what this is right? Well is everyone familiar with CC’s
pony drawing games? Well…same principle except for one major difference….
The pony you guys, the TP members, design will be real. That’s right, you heard me correctly, this Build-a-Pony will be brought to life as a real live custom by me! What’ll happen to it afterwards is sort of up for grabs right now, but we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.
Now how will this work you’re probably wondering? Well, much like the drawing game, I will be asking a series of questions and the first answer (or in a few steps several answers) will be used and I will customize the pony in that way. I’ve spread these questions out to roughly 1 question/element per day starting November 29th and ending December 20th.
Questions will be asked Saturday-Wednesday. On Wednesday nights at around 11 PM EST (depending if I get off then or more towards 10) the week’s question thread will be closed and I will be taking Thursday and Friday to do what all of you tell me to. The pony’s progress will be then shown in the next question thread (also here-this is the master guide to the whole event) and another new set of questions will start for the next week.
I will be warning you all now that December 12th I’ve a prior commitment so the final week’s questions will instead start on Sunday.
Now there are a few rules I’d like you guys to follow (important things are underlined and/or bolded)…
I ask that you be courteous, and if you answered a question the day before please let someone else give their input. Since this is set up much like an advent calendar, I will only be asking 1 question per day.
Similarly, if it is a multi-part question (ie. What 3 colors should I use for the mane?)
give other people a chance and only offer 1 color and let 2 other people give colors as well.
There are actually 25 elements (see Advent!) I’ll be asking for (14 days of questions but some are multiple parts remember) so it would be great if 25 people gave answers, but I know that won’t really happen. So if you miss a day don’t worry, there are many more chances.
On several questions I will be giving you specific options (ie. What 3 colors of hair should I use for the mane? Your options are A, B, C, D, E, and F), in that case you must
pick from the options given.
If you say something that was not an option, you will be skipped over. Not to say I’m poor (which I am XD; ) but I’m using what I have on hand at the time and we really don’t have time for me to put in an order to DH for color G hair now do we? On the other side though, the options I’ll give will not be sub-par in the least bit. It’s just to make it easier so I don’t need to drive an hour away to get something for the custom.
Pay attention to what other people have said too. I’d hate for someone to say “put snowflakes on their front hooves†and then have someone else say “paint mittens on them†or whatever;
no overlapping permanent elements would be appreciated.
Keep it kid friendly. I do enjoy a good blood and gore fest myself, but this is supposed to be a holiday pony (we’ll save the blood and guts for another time :lol: ).
You can talk amongst yourselves in the threads, but keep it on topic. You can comment on the pony’s progress so far, and stuff like that, but mostly the question threads are for the questions and as said the first answer will get used and it pretty much lays empty for the rest of the day.
Please don’t spend Thursday and Friday (and similarly Dec. 12th) asking where I am or when the next question will be; like I said those are my working days and as it is I’ll be babysitting at my neighbor’s house so I’m not online anyways (expect on the 12th when I will be out of town at a family event). However, if plans change I am not working Thursday or Friday I may get online at night, but I will not be posting new questions; whether I am home or away they are still my working days.
I think that’s it for the basic rules. This is supposed to be a fun, community project to help celebrate the holiday season folks; please don’t turn it into something else.
So this is the master thread. I’ll keep track of what questions have been asked and what the answers were and who answered it and include the progress pictures. So everyone just enjoy and have a good time! This is supposed to fun and exciting and in the holiday spirit after all.
So with all that said…
