Alrighty, now that we're at least base-upgraded, I thought I would chime in here
As far as the activity here versus other boards, much of it has to do with their joint history. The MLPTP was the biggest MLP forum around, founded in 1996, until it suddenly went down in 2005. When it didn't resurface right away, MLPTP members created the MLP Arena as an alternative until something was figured out. But by then, faith in the MLPTP to rebuild itself from scratch, with members having to rejoin and start as 0 posters again, had faltered, and many (most?) chose to stay at the Arena. It's no secret that our numbers have had trouble since then, especially with the previous owner taking an extremely long absence during the MLPTP's current incarnation.
I certainly have my work cut out for me, don't I?
I don't really get this feeling from this thread, but I just want to advise against any "us versus them" mentality in general-- we all mostly came from the same place, and are by far mostly the same people.
If your looking to gain more foot traffic here, maybe an instagram or Facebook page for the group may help? Lots of people seem to be going this way for buying/selling toys these days.
Our Instagram will be launching shortly, so stay tuned!
Bear in mind though the current "MLPTP" user is not us. And we are a bit befuddled by it.
We're also working on developing a Facebook group, with some careful precautions that have been echoed in some of the comments in this thread. The goal of any of our social media endeavors is to bring activity TO the MLPTP, not take away from it. The mods are having lengthy discussions about how to best go about this.
So, how can YOU help?
Once we have all of our features updated (hitting a few speed bumps in that regard at the moment) and our social media presence established, it'll be greatly up to you to share our posts and spread the word that whole new rebirth of the MLPTP is upon us!
