Hello, hello!
One of my favorite ponies ever is G1 Pillow Talk, who I finally fixed up recently. Btw for some reason I see Pillow Talk as a guy so I'm going to be using he/him when referring to the one in my collection, lol. Anyways I got him some months ago, and he had some significant rusting inside, which I cleaned out. However, I didn't have the knowledge or resources to fix up his general yellowing and the rust discoloration on his back... until recently!
Here are his before shots, from when I cleaned him a while ago. You can see how yellow he is compared to the mylittlewiki picture on the far right. It was more obvious in person, the photos don't show it as much.
I finally put together my own light box using RetroGeek Crafts' tutorial on YouTube. I decorated it to look like a little hotel, I thought it might make the ponies more at home and it would look nicer than a taped up Amazon box Here he is, getting prepped. I wasn't sure what to cover so I erred on the side of caution.
You can also see a mark on his neck and a few marks on his back legs, which were removed by the UV chamber.
After 4 days on-and-off in the chamber with some help from 40v cream hydrogen peroxide developer, he looks a lot happier! I also fixed my original uneven tail job and painted over the scratch on his right eye.
Direct comparison, before and after:
I'm really happy with the result of my first foray into UV sunfading!!
