So I got out allllllllllllll the stuff I got from the Disney Build-A-Pony way back in 2009-ish, sometime before it got taken down. Looking back, I’m wondering if the employee who filled my box was either being super generous cause it was my birthday or because they were trying to get rid of as much pony stuff as they could cause G3.5 was either out or just about to be out by then. :lolpony:

There’s just about 4 of everything here, a few pieces are missing but they’re probably in another accessory bag or a box somewhere. This isn’t even all the outfits they had available there for the ponies. I didn’t get a complete Jasmine or Ariel set with the tail (I did later on eBay, still looking for the rest of the Jasmine set). I guess they had already run out of those by then.

The ponies themselves have non-magnetic plugs in their hooves to comply with the new no-magnets-allowed thing Hasbro did with the latter era of G3. I didn’t know their names so I just made them up based on their colors and cutie marks. I did actually guess Spring Parade and Golden Delicious’ names correctly, but Cinnamon Breeze was “Cinnabon” and Piccolo was “Zipadee Doo-Dah”.

I actually stuffed the accessories into the box and I’m still amazed by how much she put in there lol

But yeah! This was the best part of Disney to me as a poor kid who couldn’t afford to go to the actual parks themselves lol. Really wish they could’ve just kept it there at the Disney Store but alas, the world moved past G3.

I really do wonder what became of that giant hot air balloon centerpiece tho. Did someone buy it or was it just thrown out?

Wow! Absolutely lovely. I have some very hazy memories of doing this on the trip my family took to Disney world for my 4th birthday. So nostalgic

This is awesome! All those accessories!
I have Piccolo from Disney that someone sent me in a lot.

But how can you tell the difference from Disney and non-disney? there doesn't seem to be a difference to me? I only know my piccolo is Disney because she had a tag with her name and Disney written on it

For those who aren't familiar, here is what the Build a Pony display looked like back in the day:

For about $20, you could stuff a box with all the items in the carousel (first pic) so long as the box closed.

Back then, I tagged along on many business trips to Orlando, and over time probably filled over 20 boxes for other MLPTP members. I still have an enormous tote of accessories for sale, including all the furniture that was available.

Unless it was one of the items (raincoat, bed, mirror, etc) that had Disney stickers on it, you can't. Several of the accessories available were stock from existing MLP merchandise, so it comes down to having a reputable seller who you know actually went to the store.

I remember one of the last times I went I asked if I could by the hot air balloon display. (Sadly it was a big nope but I tried.):rofl: :orangeheart: :butters:

I have a bit of experience shopping in person at Disney warehouse sales--the places where old theme park props/etc are sold--All I can say is, you never know what's going to show up eventually ;) My lifesize commercial prop SHS came from a storage facility in Orlando 20 years after the original 1986 commercial.

This is very true. It’s probably in storage until they need to make room again lol.

It's like the 2005 TARDIS interior but made out of the Pink Aisle... it's beautiful
