So, I'm not into horse racing or even gambling but I always love to watch the Triple Crown races. My great grandpa on the other hand loved to bet on the ponies LOL nothing major but as a hobby/interest. Being the horse loving little girl I was this gave us our own common interest and he was the one who would tell me all about horses and racing and the triple crown races, odds and betting, he was the first one to tell me all about Secretariat and drove me out to the farm where he was born and bred (this was back before it was sold to the state). Well into his 90's you could find my great grandpa sitting up at the "parlor" watching the horse races at least 2-3 times a week.

So I watch the Triple Crown races each year, it's just ingrained in me. Even been to Churchill Downs, though not for the Derby specifically (I hear it's nuts). I usually make appropriate edibles, all for about a 90 second event LOL

What a race this year though! No one saw that coming, kinda wishing I'd have dropped a 1000.00 bet on him. Now to see if he can go all the way!!!!

That is so cool! I’m a navy brat and my grandparents never had interest in horses, but I read ’the black stallion’ (and all the books that followed) and I was so very avidly into horse racing. Reading everything I could get my hands on, then internet and the movies regarding some of the best racers…:love::love: I have managed to follow the triple crown races every year. I really hope he goes the distance!

Aw that’s nice that you two were able to find that common interest  and the road trip to the farm sounds fun! Haha what kinds of edibles did you make?
I’ve never had much interest in horse racing but when I was reeeallly little (like 4, I only barely remember bits and pieces) my dad used to work at an indoor dog track and my mom would occasionally bring us a little early to pick him up and we’d get to watch the last 2 or 3 races. Obviously I didn’t know back then about how the greyhounds are treated or anything, we just liked watching all the cute dogs running around
