Hi! I was wondering if anyone would be interested in participating in a swap box. I did two back in the summer of '02. One successfully made its way around the globe while the other got lost for many months somewhere between Canada and California (but was eventually found).

Here's a link to the site I made for one of the boxes:

http://www.geocities.com/littlespiffy/SwapBox2/Swap2.htm

So...I happen to have a bunch of pony stuff I'd like to trade (as well as some free time). Who's with me!?

That sounds really neat! I'd be very interested in participating...but what are the limits of pony things we are allowed to add?

I'm trying to find my old guidelines...but I think I've deleted them.

I'm thinking that the minimum number of ponies will be five G1's. I haven't taken G2's and G3's into account yet.

The idea is that a G1 will be traded for a G1, G2 for a G2, and a G3 for a G3. All ponies should be in good to excellent condition, but no ponies that are extremely common (i.e. Peachy). MLP items other than actual ponies should be traded for items of equal value (or your best estimate). Just be as fair as possible.

There's no limit to the amount of stuff that's in the box. Just remember that you'll have to pay postage to the next destination and if the box is very battered, you may want to replace the box.

I'll have to prepare the "official" rules...

Okay :)

I've updated the rules: http://www.geocities.com/littlespiffy/NEWWEBPAGE/SwapBox.htm

...and because Geocities is just so wonderful, I think that it will run over it's allocated data transfer limit...so...here's what the site says:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello! If you're reading this you must be interested in participating in the swap box! Please send me your e-mail address, home/mailing address, and a minimum of five trading references. If you have less than five trading references but have eBay feedback, please send me your eBay id. My e-mail address is littlespiffy@yahoo.com

I know you must have few questions about the swap, so I will do my best to answer everything. If you still have questions, please feel free to e-mail me.

Since this is a swap box, you will be responsible for the shipping cost of the box. At this moment (7/12/05) the swap box is in its infancy stage. I do not know if this will be a strictly American swap or an international swap. There is no mailing list yet, but I will organize the list based on geographic location. Hopefully this will cut down on the shipping costs.

If this turns out to be an international swap, I will e-mail you before hand to ask if you are able to pay for international shipping charges. Don't worry, I wont stick anyone with a box they can't afford to ship.

This swap box is for anything MLP related: ponies, accessories, stickers, buttons, customs, homemade items, etc. Ponies should range from good to mint condition. If you desire to put a custom bait in the box, please make sure it does not have anything 'contagious' like mildew or mold. Please do not trade a custom bait for a pony in good condition. Try to make your trades as fair as possible. If you cheat each other, it will be no fun. I will start the box with 5 ponies and a few accessories.

New ponies (G2 and G3) should not be traded for older ponies. Please trade G1s for G1s, G2s for G2s, and G3s for G3s. Trading newer ponies for accessories or other items is fine. I just don't want someone to get the box with only new ponies in it.

Please do not send food in the box! I realize that there are items such as MLP cady tins, lollipops, and bubble gum - these items are perfectly fine to trade as long as they're sealed. If you have an empty tin or a lollipop cover, that's perfectly all right. I just don't want anything perishable to get ruined - or ruin anything else in the box.

Please do not send anyting that's liquid! This is just to protect the other items from possible damage do to spills and leaks.

I will be placing a notebook in the box. Feel free to write a note, draw a few pictures, say "hi" to each other. There is one requirement: you must write what was in the box when you got it, what you took, and what you put in. When the swap is over, I will scan the pages and create a web page so everyone can see where the box went!

I will also create a web page that shows the master mailing list and where the box is. I will not be putting anyone's home address on the page, just MLPTP IDs. When you get the box, please e-mail me so I can keep the page updated. This is very important! The '02 US-Canada swap box was lost for weeks and it was difficult for me to track it down. In the end I did get it back, but it never made it to Canada and half of the people who wanted to participate in the swap couldn't.

Oooh ok! I'll have to get my hands on some more G1s I don't need lol

I'm interested! I'm not sure if you can find my references since we moved over fr omthe old TP and I don't have a good memory f -who- I traded with (I can hardly remember what I wore the day before, honest! I'm so fluffbrained!), but you can check out my ebay refereces, definately. I'm "Psychotyr" on ebay.

Just let me know what else I have to do!

Sure, fully-completed customs can be swapped. They would definately be worth more than a bait pony. It would be up to the person who wanted it to judge a fair value.

I'm actually in Canada, but I go to the US every 2 weeks to see my dad, so I could get the box shipped there. Only problem is, depending on when it gets there it could be 1-2 weeks before I can send it back out :x

Okay, so far there are 11 people interested:

ajcoecoe
ABrownCrayon (KetchupPony on the old TP)
CheeZPoofs
Delc17
Princess1221792003
MustBeJewel
peptac
Rabid Muffins
BabyAppleJax
Teiris
Wysterya

...and there's still room for more!

If you have a Livejournal you can ask at the MLP community there as well?

Wow!

This sounds like fun! I'd be interested, I'm e-mailing you now!

out of curiousity, are plushies swappable too? ie g1 plushies swapped for g1 things, g3 plushies swapped for g3 things?

Yeah that is a good question. The swap boxes I participated in b4 it was ok to swap anything for anything as long as the swap was of equal value, and we recorded what we swapped for what in a book that was included in the box. Is that ok for this box too?

Or what if I made little clay ponies? Like maybe an inch tall...what would those be swapable for?

Okay...I've added everyone who's shown interest so far to the list.

1) Yes, plushies can be swapped.

2) Yes, babies can be swapped.

3) Yes, one-inch clay ponies can be swapped.

...just try to swap for things that are equal value. If you want to swap something, but there's nothing of equal value in the box, you can swap for a couple of items.

There's no limit on things in the box, but 5 ponies must be in the box at all times. The swaps I've been in before had so many things in the boxes that it almost seems silly to state the minimum!

:D
