I just went pony hunting for the first time ever...what a waste of time...!!!
I looked everywhere at this HUGE sale and found NOTHING! NOT EVEN A DECENT FAKEY! And it rained, I'm soaked! I can't move one wrist properly anymore (so i am typing one handed) and all I managed to get was a bag of useless junk from a raffle. nothing ponyish at all!!!

3 hours in the rain, 3 [beep] HOURS OUTSIDE WHEN IT'S P[beep]ING IT DOWN!!

everyone else seems to magically find SOME pony stuff...how many here can say thay've NEVER seen a pony at a yard sale???? :cry:


this sucks...I'd have been better off on bloody eBay

you know what's typical? I went to one a few years back actually selling stuff and came away with cloud puff, lily and baby fifi!

..'cept I didn't know who they were so they're kind of mangled bait now :S
 
I don't usually have much luck with finding ponies,but every once in a while I'll find a treasure trove of them. Even finding one pony in the midst of all those little McDonald's toys fills me with joy! But I love garage sales/flea markets anyway, probably because I collect EVERYTHING!
 
They're like hidden treasure and you won't find them all the time. You have keep trying. And trust me, when you find something, it's like a breath of fresh air. But you can't give up. Sure...I've spent a whole day looking...WITH MY HUSBAND...and came away with only stickers and some plastic bracelets. Sure I was disappointed and my husband a little upset at the waste of a day, but not everybody's going to have ponies. You just have to keep looking and don't get discouraged.

I have found ponies/Care Bears at sales, thrift stores, antique stores...just about everywhere. They pop up when you least expect it.

Don't give up!!!

I totally agree with everything that Playful Heart said :D Just because you don't find anything one weekend doesn't mean that you won't find anything at all when you go out the next weekend and so on...

There is always the TP, ebay, and other ways that you can find them :D
 
I have been collecting for over 8 years now. I guess it could depend on locations. But...

95% percent of all my ponies are from thrift stores, garage sales. !% flea markets. 1% only is the internet. 3% are ones I got off people.

best finds at such places

-satin n lace
-mimic
-nightlider
-munchie

Don't give up. I have days where I find crap!. I go to all the sales in my distance. write them down check them off. I ask them if tehy have ponies as well.

Thrift stores check twice a week since they have new stock almost daily.


I have 200 something ponies from the 80's ^-^

I also collect care bears, rainbow brite, SSC (old skool only and others.
 
I havent had a good...okay any find in a couple years. And theres a huge flea market outside of town. I gave up hope of looking...thank god for the internet
 
You just have to keep looking. i managed to score the dream castle(almost complete) with 3 ponies & some acc for $5 last week. i also got a bunch of Jem, LLL and moondreamers. 8)
One thing that has always bugged me was like 8 years ago at a garage sale they had like 75 ponies and lots of acc for $25! i was out of $ and my partner wouldn't even lend me any so i had to walk away. i think about that a lot and it makes me sad. :cry:
 
I think you have to go out and NOT be looking for ponies. Go and seriously look for something else. There is a Good Will store on the way home from school, so when school was in, I'd go there almost every other day and not find a darn thing. Even during the summer I'd go there at the most random times of day hoping to just find some. Well on one day my mom saw a desk she wanted. She went home,asked my dad and we went back the next day. I knew for a fact there would be no ponies and didnt bother looking.....at first. Then I found a G3 Royal Ribbon who just needs a new hairdo for $0.49 :) And I found a PERFECT, mint board game Ive been searching for for months (Othello) for $2. My mom's desk had been sold earlier that day. I approached her, game and pony in hand and she looks at me, laughs and goes "Now thats not EVEN funny." I thought it was hilarious. I also found Hidden Treasure at Walmart when I "wasnt looking"
 
I don´t have much luck at flea-markets, too. I would say, for me it´s cheaper to buy a pony from ebay. Driving to a flea-market costs money, too. And if I have to go to 10 flea-markets for finding one pony, it´s cheaper when I buy a pony at ebay.

my day did kind of improve when I found kiwi tart and Island rainbow MIB for £6 (that includes postage). Kiwi rocks :)

I tried to get to this place early, and I knida guessed that people ould have snapped up pones, but I asked around and no-one seemed to have any anyway. I did get a jacket potato and cheese.... (random comment there)

Thanks for all the pony karma and tips ^_^ it's nice to know that the MLPTP is always here and so is *ebay* :roll: although I value the former more than the latter.

y'know, its so typical that now I know what I'm looking for I can't find anything... I remember passing up flutters because I thought they weren't ponies! oops.
 
I rarely ever find ponies at a yard sale....I think there have only been three occasions where I have come across a pony at a yard sale. I have much better luck at flea markets.

again, thanks for tips and support, I am looking hard for more ponies, predominantly on ebay this time.
 
I seem to be finding G2's lately, and I really don't like them...so it's a big let-down. I've seen one G3 at a sale. But oh, how I long to find a G1 again. I saw one this past weekend, but it was Cloud Puff with a bunch of G2's that you had to buy with her, and I already have a Cloud Puff. I used to see ponies at least once in a while, but now it's very rare, or the people will say that they just sold them. Sigh
 
it makes you wonder, if quite a few collectors post here, or at least are known through ebay, and they aren't finding any ponies, who is?
Maybe we are exhausting the stocks of my little ponies..... :?
I'd love to find a jewelery baby...that would be the best day ever! Either that or baby blossom seeing as I can't find mine ANYWHERE...
 
Well, so far the only ponies I have found at yard sales and flea markeds are Pillow Talk, Peachy (duh... of course!), Baby Glory, Baby Cuddles and Baby CC...
Edit: Also found Spike! And of course fakies...
I haven't seen any of the new G3s so far...

But I'm going to a flea marked this weekend (hopefully tomorrow) and a guy there should have some ponies reserved for me - of course he doesn't know if they are MLP but he's (pretty :wink: ) sure they are ponies!

So I'm hoping...

Sadly I dream (really, I do!) about finding ponies at thrift stores and such but never do. :( I go to the goodwill store a lot and *try* to go to garage sales when I can (I work an 8 hour shift from 8-5 on Saturday so it cuts out most garage sales).
 
I'll keep trying ^_^ I have a whole summer to look.

If not I'll buy that big lot of ABinkyfinders from ebay! lol!
