Anyone else Embarassed by their Collection

Mmm... I get embarrassed sometimes. It depends on who I'm telling. All the people that work in my area at work know that I collect. All of my friends do too. They never really say anything. I just don't like telling people that I don't know very well. Most strangers think it's weird, or they think it's really cute that I collect ponies. XD

My family used to not like it. My mom thought it was a waste of money. But I just recently told my mom that I was selling a large chunk of my collection, and she was asking me why I would do that! XD She seems ok with it now.

My boyfriend is funny. He hates them, but he still helps me look for ponies at thrift stores and stuff. He never buys me new stuff though, since he doesn't know what all I have and don't have. :)

The only time I get embarassed is when my mom mentions that I still have My Little Pony underwear. Not that I wear it! It's from when I was 5 years old and I could never part with it, lol...but that is a part of my collection I do not care for others to know about. Oh wait, I just told you all about it. But that's ok, just not people I know in real life. I have Peachy, Firefly, Magic Star, and Ribbon. hehe I begged my mom to buy me the Firefly ones, even though they were like 3 sizes too big at the time, just so I could have them.

lol!!! That's too cute! :D I'm really glad you shared that with us, it put a smile on my face. :D Which probably sounds a little weird.......

I'm not really embarassed by my collection anymore. I think some people have a problem with it because they view them as toys, but I just explain to them their value as collector's items and a slice of history and they have a little more respect.

My mum tries to get me to stop spending so much on ponies, but she gets just as excited as me when they arrive :D . She is really proud of my pony room too. Most of my relatives know I collect ponies. None of them have been negative. My friends thinks it's funny, and they complain in the pony aisle but they still come :p . The ponies freak my dad out (he thinks they are plotting with the Glofriends to kill him lol  ), but he went out and got me Giant Rainbow Dash when I couldn't find her up here, so he is a team player

The only thing that I am embarassed about is the fact that I have had some of my ponies for years and I STILL haven't cleaned them yet! . I have almost my entire G1 collection waiting to be cleaned and styled. It's pathetic :(

aha same here.

i'll put them all up on a shelf, cause therye taking up too much "floor" space ( ii havent seen my real floor in forever, said floor's a mish mash of different things!) and i never get around to really cleaning them. i NEED to find the pic of took of one days cl;eaning adventure.. iwas off work for a week ( hoorah vacationb) and i just got about 50-60 ponies and holed myself up in the bathroom for a few hours and soaked every pony 's hair and then put conditioner in them all and just stakce dthem up all around the sink.. it got to a point where i had to get a step stool to step on, while i was wetting the hair, because otherwise i woulda knocked down the great wall of pony.

(its such a cool pic.)

i had ponies drying everywhere for DAYSSSS.. luckily, my brothers and my mom were also gone camping that week ( hence why i took a week off) so i had no one deciding that the pnies were in their way and throwing them on the floor ( completley tossing that whole "cleaning" aspect of the job out the window).. my dad, though DOES enjoy switching heads.. if i gotte behead ponies and let them sit to dry, and its been a day or so, my dad puts heads on bodies and such..i've found a DG fakie newborn's head on seashell's body, and a seapony head on that lil thing tha tyou push and pull to get rid of the water in the sink ( brainfart at the moment, i totally forgot what its called..)

sorry for OT, lol i ramble....

they only tease cos they don't understand ponies.

i admit when iwas younger i was embarrased, and would go practically undercover when it came to looking at any toys in shops.

not the case now,i have a couldn't care less attitude. in fact i did a presentation at uni, i was making a prototype toy for my model design and SFX course, and well my main inspiration came from My Little Pony, so i had to show them in my presentation, i'd even taken some ponies in as a visual aid when making my model. it was great cos when i got up to do my presentation i stuck my tongue out and said "And YES, i collect my little ponies, and i don't care!", made everyone laugh and didn't effect my grade one bit.

so you just stick your tongue out and your mates, and just tell them what a great time they're missing!

never !! i recruit ppl to look for new ponies or ponies at flea markets for me< LOL everyone has something they collect or horde !

I'm not embarrassed that I collect. Everyone in my family and a few close friends know, My brothers kind of roll their eyes when ever the topic of ponies come up, and I have to keep an eye on my mom because she keeps trying to sneak off with the ponies she likes. LOL No one else really says anything about it.

However I don't openly admit that I collect. Whenever I ask about MLPs at a store or yard sale I always say their for my daughter. ;) It's not out of embarrassment or anything, just from past experiences I've learned that people are less likely to be helpful or tell you they have ponies if they know their for an adult, rather than for a child. I don't consider it lying either as some day all my MLPs will go to my daughter. :)
