I love baking for Christmas and we have loads of traditional cookies and treats we bake here in Norway.

One tradition I've never really gotten around to doing yet is you're supposed to bake 7 different kinds out of the old classics.

Now I might mot get around to doing 7, but I'd love to do some more baking. So please share your Christmas recipes!

It can be food, cookies, candy, hot drinks, anything. I love learning about other countries traditions and treats <3

Here are some pics from when I made sugar cookies for the first time recently ^_^ they were a huge hit!

Here is a list over traditional Norwegian Christmas treats, if you click the red names in the list it takes you to a page with the recipe :satisfied:

They look delicious! I love your hair! I will try to think of something fun to add.

hehe sweet thread :) our family has the tradition of making all the teachers fudge every year - the quick/easy version using chocolate chips and condensed sweetened milk (than butter, milk, vanilla and whatever you want to add = nuts, butterscotch chips, mints, marshmallows etc.) I'll have to see if I can go find the pics of our gingerbread house-making also

Oh, yes buckeyes are a classic! Can't have Christmas without them! Do you put graham cracker crumbs in yours?

I have several treats I usually make this month, I'll choose from these old reliables and usually add in something new to try. My tradition is to do 12 treats (12 days of Christmas so why not) but often it ends up going a bit over cause I'll decide to add something new or think of something else I want afterwards.

fruitcake cookies (I don't like fruitcake but love these cookies)
spritz (I still have trouble with these, try chilling the pan, try chilling the dough, different types of pans, metal presses, plastic presses, I try it all each year and still struggle with getting the cookies to press perfectly. I'll eventually get a rhythm and get a good pans worth and then have to reload and they'll all stop sticking to the pan or something  but I try every year anyway)
pistachio shortbread (blue ribbon winner in our state fair)
white trash (not to be confused with Muddy Buddies, these are a Quaker Oats and Golden Grahams cereal mix with pecans and pretzels, coated in white chocolate and powdered sugar)
praline graham crackers
candied pecans
oreo truffles
rum cake
snickerdoodles
savory chex mix
ricotta cookies (my personal favorite!)
mini cheesecakes
stuffed dates
potato candy (made with mashed potato and peanut butter, SO SWEET)
pizelles
cannoli
oreo mice (a lot going on here but so cute!)

IMG_6357.JPG

New this year for me; butter toffee pretzels and I bought a set of rosette/timbale irons and I might try my hand at them too.

I host a wrapping party for friends at my house (it's this Friday actually) each year. I always make a bunch of appetizers, sausage balls, ham rolls, bacon crackers (guest favorite), some sort of dip and crackers, deviled eggs, mini quiche, cucumber toasts, Christmas punch and for dessert this year a gingerbread trifle.

For Christmas Eve I always make my homemade sauce and meatballs for my husband (comes from Italian family) as well as a tiramisu.

On Christmas Day I make some good breakfast things but they change up each year and then for dinner I will make a ham with baked pineapple, potato salad, corn casserole, etc and I made a English steamed pudding for the first time earlier this year with a custard sauce that we all LOVED so I'm going to make that for dessert.

If anyone thinks some of these sound good let me know and I'm happy to share the recipe.

Well compared to all of these treats mine is kinda plain but I love them and they bring back so many memories with my grandparents. IMG_20211207_175058.jpg
Simply put peanut butter in between two Ritz butter crackers and dip them in melted almond bark (white chocolate) then let them harden on wax paper for about 20 minutes and that's it, enjoy!

I haven't forgotten to get that recipe yet! I've just been busy.

Another thing I make around Christmas time cause its a huge asked for item: Puppy Chow

I feel like I need to ask politely for your pistachio shortbread recipe. It sounds delightful and pistachio things are my all time favourites. Now I’m thinking about it I would kill for some pistachio ice cream.

It’s been many years since I’ve done any “fancy” baking for the holidays (or at all really). But I do typically make cookies, fudge and dog treats every year, this year I’m not sure if I will be doing it at all or not yet.

Some of the cookies and peanut butter chocolate fudge from last year (I rarely photograph food lol).

That stuff is yummy!
my nieces used to fight over it. Its crack for kids lol
I'm glad my family aren't the only ones who call it puppy chow!
Yes! "Muddy Buddies" just isnt as fun lol, so its either "Puppy Chow" or "Puppy Dog Chow" however it comes out lol
