I recently won a lot of ponies on ebay which included a Moondancer. I loved this pony when I was little and was happy to have her back again. As the pictures showed, her moon had faded to the point of being invisible unless you held her about three inches from your face.

Fortunately, it COULD be seen, if you looked closely. I resisted the urge to place her moon differently from factory. Instead, I used a toothpick and spread mod podge over her moon on each side, and used some extra-fine silver glitter to refresh her moon and I'm SUPER happy with how it turned out. My husband scolded me. "She's vintage - you are ruining her!" But, she is for my own enjoyment, and I enjoy her better with a fully visible cutie mark. So, there you have it. I think she turned out great! What do you think? Did I do wrongly?

A restoration is not ruining. No one tells people who gets a broken down vintage car running and looking shiny for example that they ruined it. (I presume.) You did a nice job, Moondancer was one of my childhood ponies too.

That is exactly how my childhood Moondancer looks currently, I've been torn about fixing it and seeing yours makes me really want to. I think she turned out really good!

Oh my goodness, she looks perfect! I think you did a lovely job. I dont think theres anything wrong with restoring a pony haha its giving them love. :ponylove:
I have a Sunbeam I believe was one of the ponies my mom saved from the trash for me? I cant think of anywhere else I could have gotton her. I didnt buy her. Either way, the ponies had been in a trash bag at the dump. Sunbeams symbol was just as faded as your Moondancers moon! I ended up painting it back on with metallic gold paint. I couldnt find fine enough glitter at the time to try this. It looks gorgeous on your Moondancer, maybe I should try this on Sunbeam now that finer glitter is easier to find these days! :lolpony:

She looks great newly glittered! Nice job :)
And your husband is wrong, you restored her, there are people whose job it is to specifically restore old things like paintings in museums, does he think they’re ruining those? Of course not :) and even if you did change her from how she originally looked as long as she makes you happy she isn’t ruined
