MLPTP EVENT Easter Swap! (All done :) )

Okay, time for some serious talk: should we delay this until the coronavirus madness dies down? I know a lot of people on here are older and/or have poor health, and I’m hearing conflicting reports on whether this virus lasts on surfaces or not. I don’t want anyone to get sick from this, or have their stuff stuck in transit hell because “oh no this may have coronavirus and must be detained!”

I actually came here to discuss the same thing ONLY because I went to my post office today to send two other packages and all three I went to were closed because of Covid19 concerns. All the signs said they wouldn’t be back up until after April 19th. Uuuuugggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I may end up looking into alternate shipping but I may have to sacrifice my arm, leg and first born...

Now that our schools and Prime Minister are in isolation I suspect a lot more places and businesses will start shutting down too.

Personally, I think we're ok as long as we're washing hands and maybe no homemade treats (at least from those in areas that are confirmed to have it) I don't know how long this will last. We could be waiting a very long time. Let's ask @CJ Thimble Bright and we could take a poll, too.
 
As for shipping needing to be later, that's not your fault, so if we continue, we'd extend the shipping dates. We'll see what the mods say.
 
Unless I (or a mod, of course) posts otherwise, let's continue going forward with the swap and just let me know when you ship. If a few boxes are late it's not the end of everything. Plus, a few fun boxes could be just what we all need to get away from all the craziness surrounding covid-19.

The Mods are discussing this along with Tak and will get y'all an answer soon. For now, as Tak already said, continue to prep your boxes as normal and please be flexible if we need to change plans.

@Skybreeze I can't even comprehend your country shutting down the postal service. That is crazy and makes my mind boggle.

Postal service hasn’t been shut down yet. Just the mailing depots (so like Canada post depot in the corner stores & drug stores in my city). I called Canada lost and they left it up to each individual depot if they wish to be open or shut down to clean and disinfect their stores and store front. Apparently those in the city I live in chose to close.

I’m going to the “head office store” near the airport today to see if I can get more info and ship what I’ve got.
 
This whole thing is getting ridiculous. Apparently all the supermarkets are out of toilet paper now. I guess people want to stock up on toilet paper just in case they get quarantined in their homes?

Anyway, I hope we can continue the swap, but definitely wouldn't want to risk anyone's health.
 
I'm fine with shipping delays if need be; not much going on in my area besides people panicking & stocking up on tp & sanitizer. And the gov. restricting event sizes; any gathering over 500 peeps has been postponed/cancelled. So my annual spring wildlife fundraiser has been delayed. :(

Just washing hands, and I already use disinfecting wipes on stuff just 'cause you never know.
 
Well... I just need a box big enough, and I'll be ready to ship!
 
I’m pretty sure I’m done my shopping and have my ponies ready to go. Just need to wrap and get out to the main post office. I might actually look into the cost of DHL or UPS this time around.

The crowds at Walmart and the grocery store were insane. Some tried to swipe my hand sanitizer off my purse! What is wrong with people?? Has all reasoning gone out the window now?

Yes, yes it has. This is worse than the swine flu or measles craziness.
 
Crazy people! It’s ridiculous. Personally I’m less concerned with Covid-19 and more worried if tp will be available again when I run out. Of the 3 stores in town, none have tp, baby wipes, aloe Vera gel, medical alcohol, hand sanitizer, bleach. Walmart was getting low on bread and cereal last night too. For goodness sakes people! :hmph:

anyway! Teaser! I’m about ready to ship too!:D

I got set back a little bit because my sister and I got Influenza A last week...yuck! Thankfully we are no longer contagious (we've been okay'ed by the doctor) but I didn't even want to get near stuff I was sending until I was no longer able to spread anything <3 But I'm now finishing up shopping in full force!

I'm going to a meet next week so I'm going to finish up my pony shopping there. I have all the extras already, I just wanna make sure I don't find any nice deals before I ship!
 
Skybreeze is the only one who knows what happened to me today.

Yesterday morning, I checked the internet and it looked ok to travel across the border to the US. I needed to pick up my pony mail and pick up my partner’s ponies. I left early this morning and when I crossed into Washington, I heard on the radio that anyone crossing the border is supposed to self isolate for 14 days.

I was a bit worried, but it sounded like it was not something that
be strictly enforced. I got home and had an email from working saying that anyone who crosses won’t be allowed at work for two weeks.

I called work and they aren’t letting me come for my next shift. I can’t afford to be off work right now and I’m freaking.

While I understand the measures being taken, it’s kinda ridiculous in this instance, because the risk is pretty the same if I had stayed in Canada. I was alone in my car, I had no physical contact with anyone. I washed my hands constantly. Anyway, I hope they let me come in to work. We are already having problems filling shifts.

The only good news is that I have my partners ponies. It came at a great cost.
 
.... I understand the need for taking precautions.... I get it, I seriously do. But THAT IS RIDICULOUS. :/ I hadn't even heard about that stipulation. There's being cautious, and then there's taking things a little too far, and not looking into the individual circumstances and all that. Ugh. Just... common sense, people. Please.

Sorry you have to deal with all this. Hopefully your work will let you come in to work... if not immediately then at least in a few days, not two whole weeks... :sadpony:
 
Did my extras shopping yesterday but still waiting for a pony to arrive in the mail. Things are still relatively normal here for now but as everything is escalating so quickly I want to try and get ahead of the game and get my partner’s box ready and shipped as soon as I can!
