Hello, I was discussing it with my sister yesterday and I was wondering what reactions you've all got from friends/family if you've told them about or shown them your ponies? My boyfriend is very supportive (He even goes hunting for ponies for me sometimes when I'm at work!), but my mum was a little weirded out to begin with (Im 23) and said they're for 'little kids' etc etc. But when I showed her my collection all displayed nicely on a giant bookshelf, she said she was very impressed and likes it a lot!

Have you ever had someone who was a bit skeptical about it who then changed their mind?

I still live with my parents, heh, I'm not even 16 yet! So my parents and sister very much know about the collection. My father doesn't know much about it, but has occasionally found ponies for me, which is very sweet. My mother thinks it's silly when I spend more than maybe £5 or £6 on a pony, but aside from that she's very supportive. A lot of the ponies I have found have been purchased with her money, and she's gotten me some surprise ones for Christmas and/or Birthdays.
My extended family sort of know, but haven't really seen much of the pony shelves. They don't come to my house enough to warrant seeing them. They're slightly infamous in my family, because no one really collects things. My cousin is a big fan of G4 and FIM, so he thought the G4 part was cool.
My grandmother took a photo to show her friends at work, she was pretty amazed. I still haven't told her that my collection is on the small end.
I haven't had any negative responses, mainly because I started collecting when I was 12/13? I'm not too sure when, but it was at the age where I was still thought to play with toys, and even now I'm still not even classed as an adult so I guess it's seen as 'cute' or whatever. Still, if that means my family are open to buying me ponies, I won't complain :lolpony:

Sharkbait (my partner) thinks my pony obcession is cute plus it always gives him gift ideas for christmas/birthdays. My sisters think I'm just a bit crazy but that's nothing new. Mum & Dad give me the impression that I should grow up (NEVER!!!!)
I don't mention at work, I don't think it would exactly encourage the tradesmen I have to deal with to take me seriously. It's bad enough being a female joinery as it is some days.

Fox Cat is the most enthusiastic fan of my ponies, almost all of the ponies I have re-haired have had the procedure overseen by his Foxness. The red heads (Snowdrop & Barnacle) I've worked on lately seem to interest him most. I guess it's a ginger think :)

My friend won't touch the ponies because he thinks if he does it will take away his "man card" and then once we were sitting around and I threw one at him and he was freaked out.

My partner is Pony Crazy too, as is my son, so I'm in like Flinn. My mom loved them as well. And I've infected my sisters and nieces. BWAHAHAHAHA!

My best friends find them for me, so they obviously accept my obsessions.

My relatives has been amazed or some of them little bit sarcastic.. And some of firends just shake their heads.. So not that supporting group.. But I do not mind I do what I want :p
Boyfriend doesn't understand this at all.

My Mom and my sister think I have too many ponies. I have my own apartment but there is still a storage bin at my parents' house full of ponies. My Mom and my sister were asking me what I'm going to do with them. My sister says "You can't keep everything." I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them. I should probably rescue them from my parents' house.

Most of my friends (and my girlfriend) are generally just like "...that's a lot of ponies." One time I had a party and one of my friends was complimenting me on them and we ended up gushing about how adorably chubby G1 Newborn Twins are.

I have my plushies on my desk at work to protect them from the direwolf and haven't really gotten much comments on them. One co-worker asked me, "Do you seriously have My Little Ponies on your desk?" and I just bluntly said "Yes." I think he was too taken off-guard by my deadpan response to pursue that line of questioning any further. :satisfied:

My daughter loves and plays with her ponies and mine.

My boyfriend is awful and tells me I should buy more of them and not have limits to how many I want! He's bought me a few and wants to buy me more. XD

My family doesn't think anything of it, but I would never ask them to buy me one.

Definitely save your Ponies! Never know when someone might decide to 'rehome' them for you and sorrow would surely follow.

They grew accostumed to me and my collection?

My uni friends know about my collection, and we tend to joke about it a lot about it...

I actually "charge" them with ponies when I help them with something ("You owe me now 3 ponies!"). I think... they haven't seen it in person, actually =X

Ooo the boyfriend should never question the ponies, not if he knows what's good for him or likes the cold shoulder :devil:

There is also no such thing as too many ponies. You can have too few ponies but never ever have too many

PONIES FOREVER

Nearly everyone I know is really supportive. My mom and my roommate buy me ponies all the time and will check thrift stores for old ones. Some friends will say "I don't get it, but it makes you happy and that's all I need to get."

Every year we host a big party and have all our friends over. I build an Xmas display in the pony room every year and all our friends want to see it first thing when they come in.

Well when I first got phone call from local newspaper photographer, he was like "I can't believe what I'm supposed to photograph... custom ponies?"

But when he arrived today to do the shoot, it was soooo awesome. Photographed me crafting various stages and methods, got lots of pics and seemed really intrigued by my set up.

....forgot to ask when my article comes out in newspaper though Dx

My parent say I have too many toys in general. I do have a lot of toys but with my ponies they back off in this house one rule is followed in my room.

Thou shall not touch the ponies unless ask. I am very momma bear with my toys. I can't stand it when my mom kicks a toy or throws a pony out of the way.

Funny enough my sister understand how protective I am of my stuff and has even help teach my niece that with auntie ology's ponies she must becareful.

Other then that my friend collect toys so it just another thing to talk about sometimes.
