So I purchased Magic Star for a few bucks because I was in the mood for a deflock project. She was filthy. Additionally her body was crushed. Hard to see in photos but one side of her flank was flat as a board and she had a weird twist in her middle, like something was sitting on her tushy and warped her (you can see her rear feet were uneven in the before photos). She couldn't rear up on her own before. Now she can! Yay!

Anyway, before and after. I am loving her :D

@MustBeJewel I photo-documented my deflock process and I can write my own tutorial with my personal process, but I am not sure where to put it? Word doc or something for you to review and decide if you want to use it, or create my own thread? Let me know how I can proceed!

Magic Star turned out so beautiful!! You did a wonderful transformation. That was fast, didn't you just get her, lol it takes me forever to do a project like this. Thank you for sharing your journey too.

You did a beautiful job! I really love her!! You can probably see why I'm working on a Magic Star deflock right now to become a base for a custom of my pony persona! I've harvested all her hair for use on other customs (some of it was cut anyway), and amazingly got every bit of flocking off without oxyclean, just Meyers Clean Day lemon verbena dish soap (maybe the lemon oil ingredient has an effect on the glue!), an old firm-bristled toothbrush and the tongue scraper on the back of it, and my fingernails. She's still got glue residue so I need to take her outside for acetone next but I'm squeamish about harsh chemicals so I keep procrastinating. But she's a beautiful clean color under all the filthy glue and flocking!
One more tip to add for the eco/city-cautious among us: I did my best to scrape as much of the flocking as I could into the trash and not let it go down the drain. Tiny plastic particles aren't good for our systems. :)

I've noticed some deflocks comes off incredibly easy. Magic Star was one of the easier ones. Most of the others were a bit of a pain to scrub off.

I can't wait to see your completed custom!

Amazing! So beautiful!

Was just checking over this cos I think I will be needing it soon :D You make it look so easy!

Beautiful work. I use non-acetone for the painted areas. That is pretty much literally the only thing I do differently. I will have to invest in a scraper (and that little brush for the mane area, too), because by the time I get done, my thumbnail is in a world of pain from scraping. Thank you for the tip to make my own deflocking more productive and for saving me pain and energy in the long run. <3
