I'm not a cat owner, I think they are cute but they are also a source of great itching and sneezing for me! I can generally be around them without too much hubbub but if I cuddle with them too much I'll be scratching my eyes out while trying to find a Benadryl.

So that being said, I have no idea how to treat cat urine on fabric. My friend who has a few cats gave me this adorable throw blanket, it was new, still folded and tagged and I love it. Since it was new from a store, I did wash it initially and then had it on the back of a chair. I went to use it last week and noticed a distinct cat urine smell on one small edge. I'm sure she had it set aside somewhere and one of the kitties must've sprayed or leaked or whatever they do against or beside it. It was pretty strong but only in the one small spot. You wouldn't have noticed unless you sniffed that particular edge.

So I washed it again...still there. I googled, which lead me to soaking just that area in apple cider vinegar for several hours and then rinsed and washed again with a hefty scoop of Oxyclean and detergent...still smells! So then, I had this fabric safe spray for gasoline spills, just a strong citrus smelling deodorizer, I sprayed that on it several times over the course of a day then laundered again with baking soda and detergent. That helped a little but it's STILL THERE!!

Sheesh! I don't know what else to do! It's such a cute patterned throw I don't want to throw it away cause 1 edge smells like cat urine in a 4 inch spot but I am out of ideas! Any cat owners out there have a tried and true remedy for getting rid of the smell??

I used white vinger to get pee smell out of my pillow

Whelp the vinegar didn't do the trick  I soaked it in hot water and a high concentration white vinegar for several hours, then washed, no luck.

After reading the article from @Skybreeze I feel like I'm full of cat pee knowledge LOL I'm guessing it's the uric acid and salts but man, are they stubborn! So I did pick up that Nature's Miracle Urine Destroyer for cats that @Daintress mentioned, it's an enzyme cleaner. I soaked the areas in it and am now waiting for the air drying science magic LOL then I'm gonna wash it this weekend and see how it goes. If this doesn't do the trick I give up!

Nature’s Miracle has worked for me before. My cat had a blood clot and lost control.
