So at Christmas I won a fancy shmancy Brother Scan n Cut machine (for those in the know, like a Crictut machine) in a giveaway. Which is awesome! I never win things. And these machines are spendy, so I was planning to never own one - cuz if I'm gonna lay outthat kinda cash, it's gonna be for a new sewing machine or something.

I haven't done much with it yet - other than occasionally pet it. My precious...

So today I started farting around with what it can do. Which of course meant starting with something PONY! Here are my first attempts. I have SO much learning to do...

This baby can draw, as well as cut. So I started by seeing how it could do drawing some line art. Needs work.

And then I tried cutting some ponies as die cuts...

I think once I figure out what I'm doing, and the appropriate sizing for some things, this is going to be lots of fun to craft with!

Nifty!! I’ve always wondered how well those machine performed. Can it also cut fabric or is it limited to paper products?

once you have the hang of it you could make some pretty amazing paper crafts! My imagination is running wild. If only I lived close to you and we could play with your new toy together.:lolpony:

Skybreeze: But I want the Pegasus!
CJ: No, the Pegasus cut-out is mine!
Skybreeze: Fine, then I'm going home!
CJ: Okay fiiiine, you can use the Pegasus.
Skybreeze: Yaay!

Yes, but the great part about this machine is it is a computer. So, I can always make duplicates!

Okay, here is an update with some non-pony items I've been trying this weekend. (Hey! The better I get with this thing, the better the pony plans will come together!)

There is definitely a learning curve to the new glue I bought for sticking the tiny detailed areas... hence the very rumpled end result there.

But I got better!

Used the throw-away bits from the black card to make this.

Then decided to play with the size to make it able to fit in the type of envelope I usually use for my card making.

And finally, some birthday cards!

@CJ Thimble Bright - you wouldn’t happen to have any png or svg files of the first ones you posted? I just caved and bought a Cricut and want to try some pony stuff but can’t find anything online and I can’t find my tablet anywhere.
I'm currently at work. I will look tomorrow and see what files I have that you may find useful. Does the Cricut just use png and svg? Which variation of the machine did you buy?!

I just got mine back from the repair shop (don't ask) so will be spending all weekend playing with it!

As far as I’ve read, yes I have to use PNG or SVG files for their system. I have the Cricut Explore Air 2 and I’m still playing around with it between sewing up masks.

It can cut lots of things, up to 3mm thickness. So far I've only done paper, card stock, and a little felt.

Send your ideas over! I sort of feel at a loss as to what to make with it. I hate crafting without a purpose. That's why even just practicing stuff, I chose ponies....

definitely superhero logos!

Wow that's so neat! I've never seen/heard of those machines before, the pony die cuts are super cool, they look fun to make!

We have one of those at work and it is so fun! My coworker is always using it to make cool decorations for our library. Recently she made a set of DnD dice that I hung up in my teen gaming corner. The guys thought it was so cool!

You are going to have a blast and it's great for using with that iron on or sticky vinyl...everything in your house can be pony themed now!
