the giant sundance was used as a store display in the 80's

"That is not a "horse thing" that is a giant sundance"

LMAO!!! :lolpony:

Why on earth would she leave that pony OUTSIDE ever? How dumb are you!? Can you think of how much better shape she would be in?! I've always wondered if there were others made. Where are they!? I hope they didn't all get thrown away.

And where is Baby Sundance!?

That poor thing! :sadpony: How could anyone think that a statue covered in fuzzy velvet would make a good lawn ornament?! :madpony: That's just plain stupidity!

It would be great if someone could track down the baby and get it back together with its mommy. But I think perhaps with those soul-devouring eyes it may have been destroyed for being nightmare fuel and/or for leading people to commit terrible acts in the name of the lord of flies...

Wow! That was an amazing story! Congratulations on rescuing the giant Sundance! Really... I understand that it may be a little... 'difficult' to find a place to display a horse that big, but... a soft, fuzzy thing like that? Does -not- go outside! >.< [sigh] You did an amazing restoration job on her! I can only -imagine- what you must have felt when you first saw it standing there. :D

*blinks* wow, that is one crazy story. If I were to attempt to buy a pony that size, I don't even know if I could store it anywhere x___x

One heck of a restore job on that, too. I could imagine ordering a huge bulk amount of hair to attempt to re-root something like that~

Now by "brochures" I'm thinking the pamphlets that came with G1 ponies back in the 80's/90's~ I have some.

As a kid, I kept them around and just oggled the artwork of the photography and set ups as well as the general art of the ponies. It was something I really cherished and never wanted to throw away.

So, I've ended up photographing a "trip down memory lane", is how this feels for me after getting these back out. XD

Firstly, I found them stored in old freezer bags of vintage mlp accessories I have stored with my old collection.

And then, I have them stored in a... advertisement envelope. o3o

And then, here's the contents of that envelope~

And, the contents inside those neat little magazines.

Now on this one, I've ALWAYS WANTED that particular Megan and Sundance variation, but never found it.

Such fun stuff~ *carefully tucks it all back away*

I love the old pamphlets and brochures. The artwork and photographs in them were beautiful. The backcards for G2 were a lot like the catalogues for G1 in terms of style. I miss those designs.

I totally empathize with Lightning on this:

There was this one pamphlet I had that I used to keep together with my ponies. I think it was the year 8 or 9 European brochure. I'd take it out and stare longingly at the stock photos of all the ponies that I desperately wanted. I'd imagine what it'd be like to have them, how they'd fit into my little collection and what different scenarios I'd play out with them. I never did get any of the ones from that catalogue, though. For some reason my parents decided to get me Barbies, plushies and other random toys instead of ponies...

goodness i can not even re hair a regular pony there is no way i would ever attempt sundance. i only cleaned her i never put new hair or new paint. i am to afraid to do anything with her to be honest.

wow some of those old pamphlets are awesome :) i remember that sweet ice delight cottage but as far as i know it never came out to the public

i have this one i bought from someone years ago.

Now that brochure is just mind boggling. I have to love the " HASBRO - WE HAVE THE FUTURE UNDER CONTROL" I wonder what they were envisaging that the future held way back then.

Oh I am a big fan of the brochures and pamphlets! I have a lot of them I just have no idea where they are, as with most my collection (everything is in boxes) :p
Oh dru I simply can't get enough of your giant Sundance, she's just the best :D

Great Sundance story I'm so glad you found her/rescued her :) I wonder if the baby is off in someone's yard too >.>

Back In The Day (TM) when I was very young, my family went to an amusement park called Dogpatch, USA. One of their outdoor stage shows that year was MLP. I don't remember much about it, but someone dressed as Megan would come on stage and do a little skit (something about losing the Rainbow Locket??? And needing the locket to find Sundance???) and call upon a kid in the audience to help her find it. It was hidden in one of the flower decorations at the front of the stage. ANYWAY, after finding the locket, Sundance would appear. After the show kids could go up and pet Sundance and talk to Megan. I think she may have been Giant Sundance. I have pictures somewhere (taken from very far away but they do show the pony). I will try to find them and see if Giant Sundance was, indeed, ever in the Ozarks in the 80s.

My god, my poor parents. I know I made them watch that show multiple times.

EDIT: I found this on Facebook. I think it IS Giant Sundance! :D Same hair, same pose, same cart, possibly the same Megan (lol!).

Wow, thats great, what a coincidence. Thats the exact same float that sundance is on in the magazine pic, Megan does look the same as well. I wonder if Baby Sundance ever appeared in any of the shows, or whether she was only used for Promo Purposes..... Most of all where is Baby Sundance,, I wonder.

I'm so amazed that the MLP community can dig up so much information and have memories about a particular 20-30 year old object. I say it again; Gigant Sundance is amazing! Seems like she has touched a lot of peoples hearts out there!! :D

Wasn't there like a gigant Sweet Heart sister out there too that someone found?
