I picked up this fakie at Goodwill last year, I thought she was so fun! I've been meaning to rehair her and free her from this visual nightmare going on:
I felt like the yellow was just not it, not to mention that fakie hair is so poor-quality, but I didn't have any alternate ideas. Last week I decided to just sit down and take out my hair stash and see what happens. I think if I hadn't relied only on the hair I had on hand, I wouldn't have come up with the resulting color scheme, and I really like it!
I also had to add a few new plugs in the front because for some reason her hair started way behind her ears.
Then I had some fun - I gave her an earring (a hoop salvaged from a broken keychain) and made her a vest from materials I already had. And I painted her hooves black with silvery highlights, to mimic black nail polish
Here's the result!
The hair is from a group set from Amazon and it is IMPOSSIBLE to style, so I had to shove it between her hooves lol. Lessons learned. The shimmery part of the black hoof paint doesn't show on camera, but it's there!
I've never made pony clothes before, so the vest is very basic, and it's just safety-pinned together. I think it's fun though and I can always take it off of her if I start to hate it For now I'm much happier with her, and felt pretty proud putting her on my shelf. I had a lot of fun working on her She still doesn't have a name, so let me know if you have any ideas!
