So recently I got 2 4-Speeds from different sellers. I just gave them both a hot water oxi-bath because one's inside felt sticky and the other's felt oily. As I was cleaning them I noticed one was smaller with a lighter shade of blue hair and eyes. Both were original I guess because they still had the washer & clip. I took out the washers because rust started on them. Both have Hong Kong on them. Has anyone run into ponies like this? I looked on mylittlewiki & they stated the Spain 4-Speed had darker hair color but he's in different pose. I know that it's not a Spain one.

There’s some slight variants in sizing but the hair may very well just be from fading which is common with his hair colour if he was left in the sun or in a sunny room.

Is the smaller one harder? The greasiness could be due to a plasticizer breakdown in the vinyl. I don't *know* that that causes some shrinkage but I wouldn't be surprised if it does. Doll customizers do that on purpose sometimes to make big doll heads smaller.

They all seem to feel the same. You can still squeeze them, but a little hard from age. Yeah, I've watched them do the shirk process in acetone when it comes to the doll heads.

It kinda makes me wonder if you had a pony that was leaching plasticizer if that doll head shrinking method might be useful to stop it. Of course you'd want to test it on really baity pony. I've seen where it goes wrong and the vinyl cracks, plus you might end up with a pony too brittle to try to rehair. Still, the only other advice I've seen about plasticizer leaching is "keep washing it occasionally until it stops." And my Butterscotch was greasy for years.

Hm I have an Italian Firefly, the curly hair variant and its a bit smaller than the US sold ones. The vinyl used is a different kind too, but theres no stickiness or anything she looks and feels brand new. The size may just be the way that country molded it. My Italian firefly looks as if they almost copied the mold and remade it for her its really odd. They also used a different shade of blue for her hair and symbols so it could just be variation for yours too.

Well, two things could be contributing to the illusion of the size difference:
-- The hair is rooted in different ways on both toys. The boy on the left has his bangs coming down onto his face more. It changes the shape of the face and the impression of height.
-- And the head piece may be swiveled in a different angle slightly, giving the impression, just looking at the height of the ears, that one is taller. This is a feature I've noticed elsewhere which I think gives each pony an individual look despite coming from the same mold.
-- But I could be wrong - looking at these guys again. They might have different head molds. Leftie's shape matches the one my Wigwam has. The other one looks different. It's hard to tell from a 2-D photograph.

Very handsome, and I do like the color variation. I would chalk that up to fading, but as it is, it's a beautiful two colors of blue.
