Rooting update!
Due to the infill being low enough, I was super successful in adding a few rows of holes with a hot needle ^^
Now I’m just waiting for some extra needles and extra hair (for a secret Takara-related project!) and I’ll update everyone on how the hair-adding went!
I also gave her a small bow to cover the mess I made with rooting the tail
at least that went well!

I’ve also jumped into printing the bigger one; she’s also printed out perfectly!
Printed out in white PLA, 3 walls and 0% infill so she’s hollow!
However, uh.. does anyone know exactly how tall a big Takara’s head is?
I might have to scale the model up a little.. it came out to being just a tiny bit bigger than the baby head ^^’
The neck and nose holes had to be printed closed but a hot knife can quickly fix this.

i got you- and did some hair length measurements too in case anyone wants to keep it close as possible to the originals
some notes: my pinky's firelock is cut but in the longest part it's two inches, and the curl in her tail might add another half inch or so. please let me know if anyone wants any more measurements from her

and if it's not much of a problem, I was wondering about the rooting, are they haired the same way as normal ponies are (straight rows), or is it more like, a full head of hair?
I know the bangs are more or less rooted like the G4s off some pictures I've seen (pic attached) , but since there's not many pictures of the back of their head, I'm a little worried of rooting the big one "incorrectly" ^^'

Baby Pinky is fully finished!
I sealed her hairplugs with mod podge as it was liquid enough to run a little through the holes to secure it, but since her head isn’t fully hollow, some of the hair isnt 100% secured, but it stays put so it works.
Hair is Dollyhair Wisteria, body is Apple Barrel Cameo Pink and spray sealed. Her head stays on due to the aforementioned mod podge running a little down onto the plug, but it works anyways.
She was such a fun experiment and I genuinely can’t wait to work on the bigger Takara!

And a little off topic, but I was curious- is that an Utatane Piko plushie in the back? it looks so cute!

nope, don't mind at all– you and anyone else printing the model can use what i post as a reference for any reason any time
and yes, it's piko! he was designed by pierrotsdoll on twitter, tho i'm unsure of there are any of him left

I changed the title of the thread a little to make it more concise and accurate, I guess this is just for takara-themed posting now! I have yet to get her printed because I still have to get a library card and speaking to people is stressful so I haven't gotten that done yet.
Here's a drawing I did this morning!
This pony was inspired by Jenny Nicholson's youtube channel, because it's through her that I found out about takara ponies! Once I thought of a flutter pony that sells fairy floss I couldn't get it out of my head and had to draw her.
I've also been watching BJD videos which has created a resurgence in me working on my bjd doll.
I made a whole new model for the body and changed the face from the first one up (the face is a copy of the little takara face). I tried to lean into the bjd style a bit more with the sculpted eyelashes/eye too. Her face is also rounder and her ears are bigger and higher up.
Also in the first one I made the body in multiple pieces but here the model is going to be chopped up after the fact.
Just having a lot of fun with this project and all the takaras~

Takara pony art because I can't help myself!
Yeah, I've spun this off into a whole... takara pony franchise fanfiction.
(I had to post indigo separately because the other file, even when shrunk, really didnt want to be uploaded with all 6+ the reveal)
SO here's my takara pony TV show concept: all the characters are normal ponies, just rainbow (a la My Little Pony Tales); the main character, Rosy (based off Pinky) finds a magical rainbow locket (based of Megans rainbow locket in MLP&F) that transforms all the characters into magical ponies and they fight monsters. Basically this is what I would have wanted Equestria Girls to be, but more anime-y in style and fighting sequences. Also I'd want the world to be not just "modern day" but more like how Equestria in g4 is where everythings a little simpler, older, almost steampunk (not in aesthetic, just as in, its Victorian era in technology).
The show will perfectly tie in with the merch, obviously: It can have all the standard fun My Little Pony gimmicks and ALSO have fashion doll poofy dresses . I would love fashion dolls with a more lolita/victorian/cupcake skirt aesthetic.
There's a unicorn, pegasus, flutter pony, seapony, and twinkle-eyed pony; they all have different sorts of elemental magic (to be decided later). The indigo pony is obviously a villain who will be reformed, she is a sparkle pony (with a clear body) and her magic power is to turn invisible (obviously a reference to nightmare moon/luna from g4 as well).
I'm not sure about the main character, Rosy; I don't really like the g5 "turning sunny into an alicorn" thing, feels like a bit of a cop-out to try and make the earth ponies their own thing but then make the ending of the story conclude with the earth pony getting the "better" powers. That's why I'd prefer the g1 Princess Pony route where every type of pony can get a power (the princess ponies had wands, in this they're just magical girls). But maybe Rosy's pony toy could have some sort of extra gimmick I can't think of.

Anyways as for the 3D models: I wanted to put together a video of me working on the 3D models I made, but I realized it was a bit boring to watch (plus I redid the model SO many times it gets confusing); and I won't be able to get the 3D model printed in a timely manner because I have other stuff going on. So I decided to /also/ try and sculpt one out of clay, to see what I could do, because I realized I have cosclay (a flexible type of polymer+rubber clay) so I can make the joints differently. I feel like since I took 5+ tries to do the digital model I'm familiar with it and maybe that'll help with doing a physical version. Plus I just haven't sculpted anything in ages.

First of all- sorry for zero updates on my print! finals week was hectic and insane but glad that’s over with.
Now that that’s out of the way, SHE’S FINISHED!!!
Sorry for the mess in the bg, I got a little excited that she was finally complete ^^’
Meet Mimi! She’s part of a line I’ve been wanting to make for a while— Osharena Ponii Idol Stars!
She has iridescent tinsel in her mane, and is styled after a certain virtual idol (Hatsune Miku, of course!)
She has long hair that appears blue in pictures, but its a gorgeous turquoise mix from Dollyhair
I’m currently working on her accessories, card art and clothes so she’ll get her own post very soon!! In the meanwhile, I do want to show the outcome after a month of planning + work ^^
I used the stringing plan posted here (I think it was from the dollightful 3D printed bjd?) and she works perfectly!
