New question: Is there any reason that spray enamel paint would be incompatible with brushed-on acrylics if I let them dry between all layers?

Mod-podge specifically says to use an acrylic sealant over it, so is there any reason that spraying said sealant would cause the dye under the modpodge to run through the modpodge and paint and leave colored streaks through everything?

Gads. I was FINISHED and now I'm back to a beheaded, hairless pony. At least I don't have to re-dye her. *sigh*

hahha! no, i'm not giving up, i'm just frustrated at having to restart entirely.

so pony blank has been mod podged twice now, and i'll start repainting after the layer of modpodge i just put on is dry.

do people usually re-mane before or after painting?

yes XD it depends. i usually have a name when i do a design sketch/ image, though every now and then it just do random designs and a name comes in the middle/the end. so the answer is yes

I do it after because I don't think I could do it without getting paint in the hair if I did it before. HOWEVER, when re-rooting after painting and sealing, there's a good chance the paint might crack and flake off. >_< It's really a lose-lose situation.

yes reroot after painting unless you're really good at painting carefully.

Well, I'm not doing a full-body paint; I dyed her and am painting symbols, so I'm not too worried about cracking anything right around the mane, but did wonder if there would be issues smudging the face by handling. I guess if I seal it well that shouldn't be a problem?

I actually did the mane first the last time I did this pony (before her melt down), but then when I sealed it and the paint melted, it got in her hair.

You shouldn't have a problem then. (Emphasis on "shouldn't".) I'd be verrrrry careful about where I put my fingers though if I were you, what with the luck you're having with this pony and all.

Well, as requested: pictures of her in progress. I repainted the symbols last night, still need to find acrylic spray to do the snow-fall effect. And the mane and tail, obviously.
