Take the pink out of a pony's hair? I am going to attempt a deflock but the pony's hair is a lovely pink. I don't want to fade it. If it will fade, is there another way to deflock not using the boiling bath?

When I deflocked the ss for my custom, I just used plain boiling water, then acetone, then my fingernail to pick off the rest.

I've never know heat or chems to fade pony hair, only light. You should be good. If you're still worried, you can forego the oxiclean and skip right into the acetone, but it will take a lot longer, I imagine

Thank you all so much for the help. I think I will try just plain boiling water first and see how much flocking I can take off. OxiClean should be safe since it can be used on colored clothes, but I just wanted to know if anyone had any first hand knowledge! I don't want to make this poor girl any worse than she already is!

Let us know how it turns out, because I'm curious too...I'm working on deflocking a pony myself, and I didn't think about the possibility of it fading. Let me know how successful it is. Thanks! :)

I used acetone, I highly recommend it! :] A little scrubbing is required, but not much!

I oxy-cleaned a pony with a white body and red hair - it didn't bleach the hair colour at all, but the red came out in the water and tinted the white pony a pale pink. I couldn't remove that after. This staining occurred all within 5 minutes, I dunked the whole pony including the hair in just at the last minute.

Thats a good question! I hope not :p

don't forget to take the pony's head off before boiling so she doesn't collapse (I hope you didn't do it already) and I think people DID mention that oxyclean fades pink hair?

Well I tried the boiling water and the flocking didn't want to come off at all. I scrubbed like mad and only got the top layer off. I dropped in the Oxi Clean and tried it that way. The hair didn't fade, but the flocking still won't come off! I finally took some acetone to her front leg and got some off that way, but it is really resistant. It looks like the glue is still on there. I knew it wouldn't be easy, but this is ridiculous! I used a Tupperware scraper and a stiff bristled scrub brush, nothing is really helping. Any ideas on what I can try next? I just left her soak in some clean water overnight.

hmm strange...how about goo gone? its supposed to remove adhesives and glues but don't use it around the symbols or eyes if you want to keep them because I think it removes paint too. I've never tried it myself but since you're already playing around, just try it on the bottom of her foot?
