Mmm tough call. I tend to shy away all together from buying MIB stuff through auctions as I'm a loose collector for the most part (although I do have a few rarer/HTF MIB G3s in my collection). I let people who are looking exclusively for MIB, snatch up those auctions & I remain patient to see when a loose pony I want pops up.

I have deboxed before (just G3s & some misc. other horses), but I make sure to check the value before I do. Even though I'm not planning on reselling anyway (but something bad might pop up in my personal life & I will have no other choice but to start selling off)...you never know... Hopefully what I de-box now will not turn up to be worth a lot 20 years down the road :p

But I have a small pony room, with not enough room to carry a lot of MIB stuff (wish I did) so that's why I do de-box sometimes.

I chose the "other" option... I would definitely decard an MOC that had a very damaged card/box or if I could see there was mold inside or something like that (even if it was mega rare) so i could save the pony :)
of course I'd be tempted to decard anyways even if there was nothing wrong as I love mint loose ponies.. but I would resist temptation and get both loose and MOC (eventually) ;)
so no worries my MOC's and MIB's that I already own are quite safe :D

Not unless there was damage to the pony because of staying on the card. Even though I would love to have the pleasure of opening a G1 again...I just couldn't do it. It will never exist again MOC, and opening it would not only decrease it's value, but also remove one more MOC pony from the community.

I have to say OTHER on this one.

It would depend on various circumstances.

If I had one, and I actually liked the look of her, I would try to find a specific buyer for it to do a partial trade/sale. The conditions would be a loose, nice, copy of the pony in question. I wouldn't insist on minty condition, because my collection isn't minty, but she'd have to be all there, no missing hair or limbs.

If I couldn't find a loose one, I'd carefully open the package so that I could keep it as well.

If I didn't like the pony to begin with I'd just sell it off. Why bother keeping something you don't like when somebody else is going to want it?

I think I would. The main reason though, is because I have a tiny room to keep all my MLP, Hello Kitty, Beanie Baby and Care Bears collections. I don't have room to keep stuff in the packaging.

I collect MOC g1 pony merchandise, and i would never open them.

BUT, that being said, I would not pass judgement on someone who liked decarding MOCs. Once you own them, you can do whatever you want with them! :)

.....there are PLENTY of ponies I could think of that im so happy i dont have MOC because they would be screaming for me to let them out! :p

Other; I would trade it for a loose one. I don't care for boxed and carded ponies, because I'm rather touchy-feely. XD I'm not all that in to rare ponies either, so if the pony was so rare I couldn't get one loose, I'd sell it and buy other less rare ponies.

I so totally agree, I'm very touchy-feely myself! No point of having a pony in a box, you can't play with it! If I couldn't open it, I'd probably sell it as well, I don't want boxes, I want ponieeeees :super:
