Welcome to the My Little Pony Trading Post! We are happy to have you as a part of our pony community! :ponylove:

This forum contains a wealth of pony history and information, as well as amazing members of the MLP community who are kind, helpful, and wonderful to interact with.

Need a little help getting started? Keep on reading! ;)

I. Quick Links

  • Site Rules can be found here: MLPTP Rules & Terms of Service
    • Please note that pinned to the top of each sub-forum, you will find specific rules or guidelines that apply to that forum.

II. Making a Post or Comment
The great thing about our forum software is that your posts (the first message in a thread) and your comments (your replies to a thread) can be as simple or as creative as you'd like, thanks to the multitude of formatting options. These can give your posts a bit of colorful flair, provide tables to organize your data, insert cute pony emoticons, and much more.

You are always welcome to create your posts and comments in plain text, but for those who are curious as to what all of those little buttons do:

Advanced Tips:

Feel free to experiment with your formatting as much as you'd like to in the Site Help & Testing Forum.

Want to get even MORE creative? Check out the complete guide to BBcode here: BBcode Guide

Want more colors than the color palette offers? Simply write
Code:
[color=colorname]your text[/color]
and pick the perfect color here to replace "colorname" in the code: HTML Color Codes Both hex codes and name codes are acceptable!

Tips for Great Posts and Comments:

Posts:
  • Make your Subject specific to your thread--ie, try to avoid vague titles like, "I Have a Question" or "Has Anyone Seen This?" Instead, try titles that indicate what your post is about, such as "I Have a Question about So Soft Ponies" or "Has Anyone Seen the New Sunny Starscout release?"

  • Choose a Prefix that fits your Subject type. Note: This is not required, but it can help your posts to be seen by others.

  • 1654993282362.png

  • You are welcome to start games, polls, and other fun activities if you'd like to. Please contact a moderator before doing any kind of contest, swap, or raffle.

Comments:
  • Always be courteous and respectful of others.
  • Keep each thread on topic.
  • Do not make back-to-back comments--instead, edit your previous comment to include the new content.
  • Always use the Multi-Quote function instead of commenting one after another in response to each person who commented before you:

The Multi-Quote Function

This function is a great way to respond to multiple people in the same thread, in one single comment!

1. To respond to comments in a thread, click the +Quote button at the bottom right of each person's comment that you want to respond to:

2. In your comment, click Insert Quote at the bottom of your comment box:

1654994340334.png

1654994455924.png

3. Now you can reply to each person in the same comment!

III. Using Reactions

Hovering over or clicking the Like button at the bottom right of anyone's post or comment will present you with a number of different "Reactions" you are welcome to use, similar to those on social media:

Here are the different reaction icon meanings:
1654995332496.png

  • While these reactions are fun and easy to use, please remember not to over-use them. ie: Please refrain from reacting to every single post or comment you see, lest they lose their meaning over time.

  • Reactions are a special message to the commenter or poster that is best accompanied by a comment supporting your reaction, and should not be used simply as an indication that you have seen the thread/etc.

IV. Managing Your Avatar and Signature

One of the fun ways to personalize your experience here at the MLPTP is with the use of an avatar and a signature.

Below, the small image on the upper left is Skybreeze's avatar. You can upload your own avatar here:

The picture and text in the middle beneath the horizonal line is Skybreeze's signature. It will automatically add to every comment she makes. You can set your own signature here:

Please make sure to follow the Signature and Avatar Guidelines.

VI. How to Upload Photos from your Phone or Tablet
(by @Skybreeze)

  • Most devices and computers allow you to edit a photo. One of the easiest ways to get a photo you want to upload is to crop it down some using your devices photo editing features.

  • Easy to use photo editors are also available in iOS/android/online stores and are frequently free to download.

  • For instructions for your specific device, you may have the most luck by searching Google.

Here’s simple steps to follow from any Apple (iOS) product:

A) Select “Attach File

VII. Troubleshooting
Having technical problems with the site?

The MLPTP forum software is kept constantly up to date and checked for errors. With rare exceptions, technical problems usually occur on the end of the site user. So, before you contact a moderator for assistance, try these troubleshooting tips:

  • Check your Site Preferences settings here: https://www.mlptp.net/index.php?account/preferences

  • Log out of the TP and log back in

  • Make sure your browser/OS is up to date

  • Restart your device

  • Clear your cookies/cache from your browser

  • Check your email spam/junk folder if the issue involves email
Bear in mind that as devices reach the end of their functional lifespan (which is getting shorter all the time..), their ability to function properly has a tendency to go downhill. If you continue to experience issues with your device, we suggest consulting customer support for your particular device or visiting the store from which it was purchased.
