G5 G5 Chatter

Okay, so I'm still back-and-forth on the articulation and I wish there was a bit more of a tail going on, but Misty rocks it. I love the new colors in her hair!!

She does look very cute all decked out. I wonder if her headphones would fit a Dance n Prance? Swinger, DJ, and Twirler would look cute.

misty's so cute and probably my favorite g5 pony i have (sorry pipp!)! i honestly love the articulation with her, i love coming up with different poses for her and her color scheme is something else!

so i just got opaline, and i just wanted to ask here about if anybody else has noticed anything weird with her hair? i've been pretty consistently getting g5 ponies but opaline's hair just feels worse. like, it's frizzy, it's dry, and perhaps worst off brushing it resulted in her hair like... shedding??? like,some strands were like straight up coming out but when i say shedding i mean very tiny pieces. like it's dandruff or somebody just shaved. unsettling.

i've been getting into dolls and such and i've definitely people talking about how monster high has been using polypropylene hair and i'm wondering if it might be that, but as i'm not really familiar with doll hair types beyond nylon i wanted to ask here about other people's experiences before jumping to conclusions and making the hair situation worse. i remember people were posting about opaline like a few months ago, has anybody else had any issue with her hair?

honestly, that was my view for a while but he's kinda grown on me with chapter 4, like, i'm kind of attached to the little guy now which i wasn't quite expecting!

@lunchpunk You're the second person I've heard complaining about how crummy Opaline's hair is. It has been confirmed that Hasblow has been doing polypropylene and nylon. Idk if she's got it or not?

Just finished up the new chapter of Make Your Mark!! I really liked it! I feel that the animation has improved a lot, especially in terms of the lighting. The visual effects, like the glitter in their manes, was also super nice! I liked the Bridlewoodstock special, but I think the rest of the chapter was a bit better, in my opinion. I love how Pipp's Bridlewoodstock toy design translated into the show.

I think the writing has also improved a lot. It feels like they're letting the audience make some assumptions, rather than flat out telling us things. And the jokes are funnier to me, and less immature-feeling. Almost as if they're taking the audience more seriously. I really enjoyed it, and I'm already looking forward to the new chapter!
I've always been a fan of Sparky. His toy in the Mane Melody playset is just so adorable. Although I pretty much love everything G5, haha! :snuzzle:

omg i binged it today too!!! the bridlewoodstock special hit me hard, it was also touching seeing g5's interpretation of bluebelle, minty, and snuzzle!! hooves together was such a sweet song, like it was incredibly touching and felt like a nod to the 40th anniversary <3 :ponylove:
i was shocked with how much of a step up the animation and writing and really everything was!!! like the previous chapters were kinda inconsistent with quality but this feels a lot more like, secure and grounded and like, sure of what it's trying to do if that makes any sense?? i appreciate that they're taking the audience and the story more seriously and i feel like this tied up a lot of loose ends even from the movie which kinda surprised me!! like i was trying to keep my expectations low about chapter 4 out of fear of being disappointed but i'm so on board now, i'm like truly invested now!!

Oh I agree so much!! I had a feeling there might be some G1 ponies involved when I first listened to Hooves Together but I was really surprised to actually see G1 ponies referenced in the special. So awesome!! And for G1 ponies to sing with the iconic and well-loved Pipp was just spectacular. I also agree about the quality before this chapter and now. The relationships between characters, and their personalities alone, definitely feel more secure and confident. Especially with Izzy. I could talk about her character all day, but to keep it short, I feel that in this chapter she can get silly but she has come a bit into her own, being less of a "random is funny"-type character and more herself. :redheart:

My only criticism is I felt the last episode was slightly rushed. I don't really mind, personally. The story still wrapped up nicely, and a certain character did what I have been rooting for her to do the whole chapter (trying to say this without spoiling, haha). Also, my guess is Netflix might have had something to do with things being a bit rushed, considering what I have heard about how they've treated other animated and live action shows. On that note I was a bit nervous to see MLP was headed to Netflix, but it seems they're not doing anything too wild.. yet! Lol!

I truly could ramble on about G5 all day.. forgive me everypony! Lol!! :snuzzle:
 
I am not one to binge things. I take it at a steady pace. I like having something to watch each day with my breakfast

I didn’t realise new episodes were out until I saw it come up on Netflix last night. So I’ve just finished the Bridlewoodstock episode. I quite enjoyed it! I loved the G1 references and Snuzzle was my favourite redesign. Their symbols are so tiny like all G5’s but that’s fine, it’s just theirs felt extra tiny.
The animation is looking a lot better during that longer episode too. Bright Lights from the G1 series came to mind at one point because they just want to sing and dance and something gets taken away

But anyway, I really enjoyed The Dreamlands. The obvious nod to Dream Valley, their style, their album cover, three iconic original ponies, perfect for their anniversary. And the mention of it being their anniversary too. I just love how G5 doesn’t forget their roots :minty::snuzzle::blue:
 
Saw a stillshot on Lady Moondancer's tumblr page. Freaking adorable! I'm surprised they didn't go for the Rock n Beats, but then we wouldn't get this! Thank you Lady M. :ponylove: :minty: :blue: :snuzzle:

Nah, I'm not that big into G5. Just wanted to alert others that might be looking for them for cheaper. Tho usually I only post it on insta cause I forget about the thread here lol ^^;

A couple of months ago I did snag a couple of the Sunny/Twilight packs from Wal-fart for like $6. Can't pass up a deal like that XD

That's been my favorite thing about G5 -- even before the 40th anniversary came around, it's the first time I've seen MLP lore/animated media acknowledging past generations in this capacity. I suppose G4 tried to in a few spots, but I like G5's execution of nostalgia a lot more.
