getting healthy

Congratulations, Skycakes! That's a great accomplishment. I find my main problem is not eating at all. I forget, I get so busy. My doctor said that puts my body into thinking it's in a starvation situation, so it holds onto everything, especially fats, thinking I'm not going to feed it!

I'm sorry I abuse you body. I really am trying to do better.

I'm trying to eat a regular times, a little each day, not just one meal that I gobble because I'm so hungry from working all day then not eating. I really am the source of all my own problems.

I've got a health tip:

One of the biggest things that I think hold people back from weight loss is drinking soda. I've lost around 8 pounds in a month and a half by not drinking soda. I've also saved almost 160 dollars by not buying it. Instead I have water with flavor packets. It's not the best for the body but I just can't stand plain water. I'm also super addicted to caffeine and I don't drink coffee. I found these flavor tubes that have caffeine in them. Zero calories and all the kick I need for day. Plus I've been drinking about 3 liters of water a day which is good. So if anyone loves soda but wants to lose weight try flavor tubes :)

I agree but I have to have the occasional soda and thank you for the encouragement Evilbunnyfoofoo. I think trying to eat in small meals works but it doesn't work for me. I also have a tough time with sticking to regular lunch hours. I need to try to rein that bad habit of eating lunch way too late it wont do me any good to eat lunch at 2pm. ><:
I do drink the 0 calorie sweeteners too. I like the crystal light ones. Though anyone will do. I buy the generic ones too at walmart. I also don't drink coffee I could never stand the smell of it. I try also to drink more herbal tea because that is a good habit. A warm drink will make you eat less so with the soup or low sodium broth soups I make myself.

How is everyone going with their Getting Healthy plans?

I seem to take one step forward and then 2 backwards........ need to get motivated and have more focus.

I find I'm walking more, drinking more water, doing more and losing less. What the hey, man.

Seriously, I feel the same way. Then everyone says, "Hey, muscle weighs more than fat!" Then I tell them, "It's okay if I have a big tummy. It's a super weapon. Body slam attack!"

By the way, has anyone tried Medifast? Thinking about trying it, but I'm skeptical...

That is great! And you did it over the holidays too  Way to go! Gimme some of that motivation!

Wow! Congrats! And here I thought i was doing good losing five.

And last night I made cookies, pulled a Wind Whistler and ate a buncha cookie dough. It was sooo worth it though. :satisfied:

If we all lived close, we could all take walks together and get all buff.

The thing was before I was working on losing weight I wasn't doing anything. I was just sitting around and getting fat. So pretty much anything I did was an improvement. I've been working on losing weight since early October.

Honesty I don't have any weight loss "secrets" I just ate more fruit and veggies and walked about once a week.

Thanks everybody!

I hit a plateau. So I had to change up my work out sessions. Sometimes it happens when I thought I was doing everything well and boom. :/

I've battled with my weight since I was a child, when my Mother passed away a couple of years ago due to complications with diabetes I decided to lower my sugar intake and eat better. I was getting close to being diabetic and wanted to stave that off. While I haven't lost much weight, I have gotten my sugars under control. I've been taking Hoodia Ultra 2000 for over a year now and while they don't help my appetite much, they do help with carb and sugar cravings. Different people react differently to herbal supplements, so they may help or may not, just mentioning it in case anyone wants to try it.

I drink maybe one soda a week now and try to stay away from bottled teas and juices (which can also have a lot of sugar).

Evilbunnyfoo: Maybe you should carry around little baggies of healthy snacks with you like carrot sticks or a small serving of almonds and munch on them while you work? I know what you mean about being hugely hungry at night and then eating a large amount of food. That happens to me if I'm not careful. Also, when you're really hungry like that, studies have proven that a person is far more likely to reach for carbs, sugars, and fats and to eat much more than they should.

I really need to exercise. It's so hard to make myself do it though!

I've got couple good tips. :)
What is really good way to lose weight is simple. Drink a lot of water and eat healty meals 5 times a day. That keeps your metabolism in shape and working. Ofc you need to exercise too if you want to loose weight to but by eating regularly really helps. If you skip some meals it won't do you any good. You will be so hungry that you will eat just about anything and so big portions and your metabolism can't work properly. By eating all 5 meals you won't get too hungry and won't have the craving to any sweet snacks etc.
If you haven't exercised much you should do it carefully when you start. For example just taking first little walks. Don't start running if your body has not accustomed to do that. In gym also star from small weights and easy movements. Find an exercise that makes you feel good and you like it.
Make some goals. For example losing weight 30kg in half a year but also make small goals like I will lower my weight 0,5kg per week. Small step to bigger goals are better than just one big goal. It keeps you more motivated.
Losing weight and keeping it that same level is permanental change to your eating and exercise habits (just dieting for sometime then getting back to your old habits it will get you the same weight when you started dieting) .If you do not like eating broccoli don't eat it. Forcing it just makes you lose your motivation and eventually makes you lose interest in weight loss too. Do things that you like and eventually eating healty and exercise will be part of your everyday life without you even noticing it.

I have done that. I did not need to lose weight so it was "easier" to me. I needed better healty food bacause I drink too much soda and eat candy. Also I did get too exhaused just by walking stairs. Now I eat healty and go horse riding at least 3 times a week. Also I go to gym if I have the time. I feel so much healtier and so much fresher!
