I enjoy doing crafty things. Growing up you would always find me making things or reading, and as I've gotten older it seems I do less and less of things I actually enjoy (other than cooking of course but hey, eating is required). It seems between work and life there are just always other things that take priority. Plus after a stressful day at work it's just easier to mindlessly zone out in front of the TV. Which is fine to do occasionally but I feel like such a blob sometimes and I miss doing those sorta things. Not to mention the boxes of "projects" I've never completed.....or started

So I decided I've got to prioritize the time for me to do more of that. I used to feel like I shouldn't read, work out, or work on some project or craft until all the other "chores" were done. I don't know why, I think it's cause I'm slightly OCD but after 40 years I've figured out that there will ALWAYS be something that needs doing, laundry, dishes, tidying, cooking, etc. It never ends and ya know what? Since it won't ever end, there is nothing wrong with it waiting another couple hours or until tomorrow. I'm working on getting myself in a happier state of mind and health and I'm making time to do the things I enjoy more of a priority. Wish me luck LOL

Since I have a closet full of crafts and projects, I decided the easiest way to start would be with a jar. A jar full of slips of paper with all my different half done or hardly started projects. I'll just draw one out and I'll work on it til it's done, then draw the next. Last week I drew, flip flop wreaths. Last year at the end of summer I got it in my head to make cute flip flop wreaths cause the Dollar Tree had them 50% off (and that was before they went up to 1.25 LOL) so I bought several pairs for .50. I did pick up some ribbon and the sunglasses (Dollar Tree again) and after a couple hours with the glue gun, Voila! Flip flop wreaths! I made them just to give away to a few family and friends and they were done in a couple hours while watching a old movie and I just enjoyed taking the time to make a thing. Stay tuned for what's next

What a fantastic and adorable idea, these would be so cute for a cottage or beach house.

I feel you so much about trying to take time for the things and hobbies you enjoy outside of “adulting” things.

I can’t wait to see more of your creativity, we all know how talented you are in the kitchen and now we get to enjoy the outside the kitchen creations. <3

I love that you are learning to take time for things you enjoy. Isn't it crazy how our go, go, go society makes us feel that slowing down and doing something like that is selfish?

I've been doing a lot of reading and crafting this summer to make up for the school year when I have almost no time for it. So, I know exactly how your little heart feels getting to do that. So soothing. And you feel accomplished for the creation! Looking forward to seeing what else you make.

This is a wonderful idea. I feel the same. There just aren’t enough hours a day for everything I want to do. I work 50-60 hours every week and after I finish my exercise and chores, I feel like there is nothing left.

I’ve already picked a craft room in my new home and once I settle in I think I will follow your lead and feed my crafty soul.

You’ll have to keep us in the loop on your projects.

Good luck! I’ve always had the mindset of if you enjoyed the time spent doing something then it was exactly what you should be doing no matter what your silly logical brain is telling you :)
Can’t wait to see your projects in the future
