I'm having a rough month.

How is the plumbing fix going? :rolleyespony:

I forget about the time difference. Hope they had good news for you guys...
Well... good news is they get a 20% off covid discount if they sign papers by Saturday. Bad news is it'll still be $8000. My house has four different kinds of pipes cobbled together in it. Plus three walls repaired and all fixtures replaced. Except the fixtures I bought after moving here. Only two days to do it, one without water, and my dad is really leaning towards doing it. He hates plumbing and their work is guaranteed, so he'd be off the hook for a while. Plus, it would increase the value of the house.

It’s a lot of money out of pocket but it sounds like the house not only needs it but it will be of great benefit to get it done. I mean the fact they’re offering a discount right now is huge too. I hope your Dad goes through with them. My fingers, arms legs and toes are all crossed for you.

I'm definitely of the school to fix as much at once to keep from repeats down the road. I'm terribly grateful I had a good friend teach me a lot of plumbing so I can do most of my own repairs, and that I was able to pass this on to Action Hank. I sure wish I was closer so we could help. I'm so glad you're getting so much done!

My dad has been fixing it, but he's just not able to go crawling under the house anymore.

They did decide to go ahead and get it done. We're pretty sure it's what's making me sick lately. Now we just need to get a date set up. There might be a delay between the day they do all the plumbing and the day they fix all the walls, but my dad's getting it scheduled.

Ok my pony family. I'm in need of some positive thoughts. This month is, for lack of a better word, whack. It's Murphy's law in our little twilight zone. Covid, fires, smoke pollution, online schooling (halp! I can't teach math that I don't understand!), the girl is sick of being stuck at home all the time, the doctor's keep pushing back my hand surgery, my pup is a trooper (though I know he's hurting), I just can't seem to manage the yard work, and then my eyesight. Last year we had to fix plumbing in my bedroom closet three times, I was chased out of the room by the moldy stench for months, now, there's water coming in under a baseboard in the spare room. My dad cut a hole in the wall, the plumbers looked at it, nothing. The water is there because invisible leprechauns brought it in. Now, I went in the hall closest (don't remember why) and there is mold everywhere. My girl's winter boots from last year are covered in what looks like white cotton candy, green moss, and the lovely black nasty. Thank goodness I found it and we got everything out of the closet. Luggage is spendy and I kept mine in there with her shoes, a folding table, all her jackets, her school bags, my backpack, and crutches. Luckily, only one pair of shoes are beyond hope. My backpack might kick the bucket, too... it's in the washer, then I'll soak, then wash again. One other pair of shoes only had a little on the toe, I'm hoping it'll wash off with detergent. Ugh, though. The closet looks like it's growing white cotton candy with black spots all across the back of the closet. So, the only working shower is on the other side of that wall. I'm not hopeful here. I was still sick from the smoke and I can still taste the mold two hours after removing everything from the closet and showering! My parents can't afford to fix this with covid hitting them so hard. I'm going to go cry myself to sleep so I can deal with my princess and school tomorrow. I honestly don't fathom how people can handle all this stuff so calmly, because I know many on here have it much worse. How do you handle it? I'm in awe of the strength of so many on here.

Send us some positive vibes/thoughts/prayers please. Moving would mean a studio apartment for us at this point. :cauldron: (out of the fires, into the moldy pan :skull: )
Trust me when I say this. I know what your going through...
I'm still there. Just keep trucking. You just have to take it one mouldy bite at a time. Care emoji

Wet it and forget it is an amazing product that works really well on mouldy walls
I recommend you get a 50 cent spray bottle as well since the included one doesn't work.

Hopefully there aren't any nasty surprises like the pipe connection to the sewers being completely gone.
We had the sewer connected just two years ago, so we’re good there. Thankfully.

So... the soonest available appointment is November 23rd and November 24th for replacing the pipes. I don't know if I can manage breathing this that long... I have to find a way to stick it out. Nowhere to go and no money for a hotel. My parents are fully on board after receiving the water bill today. It's increased an incredibly huge amount. 4x last years use and doubled since the last bill. Water bills are every other month, so two months at a time. There's definitely something leaking badly somewhere. We're using less water than usual since we've been staying home. Less laundry, less showers (mine are super quick), the smoke kept us from using the little pool, and we have less plants to water. I feel vindicated. I'm not hallucinating this. We're lucky I clean so much I found it.

My wrist surgery is a go next month, finally. Now if I could have some magic weight loss, I'd be super green. :p

That's great news for your wrists! I'm sure your yarn and crochet hooks miss you!

Maybe that stuff @MegaLeafeon suggested will help with getting it livable until you can have the work done. I'm glad your parents decided to do it. Sounds like your November will be full of excitement! Glad you will get your hands back to use!!

We had to turn the water off to the house. Buckets of water from my parents for the toilets and bottled water for drinking, cooking, the dog, etc. 6 weeks of no water. This is gonna be rough. It has made to smell tolerable, though. Here’s some icing for you, I cracked a filling, and my car needs a $600 repair. E and I agreed that we would please just like to hibernate until after the pipes are fixed please.

I do have good news. First term and E got all six A’s. She’s done so well with a messed up situation. Her therapist left so we’re working to find a new one. I’m so proud of her! <3

Als, I’m so thankful for all of you my pony friends. You help so much. I appreciate you!

Oh man that’s a long time to be without running water :( last year we had to get some repairs on our water heater and had the water off for 3 days and it was a big pain. I’m sorry that you have to do that, after that will the plumbing be all fixed? And that’s great about her grades!

Great job E! Hang in there guys!! Hopefully 6 weeks will go so quickly and just imagine how good things will be once it's done. Sorry to hear about your tooth and car! When it rains it pours!! Sending pony hugs your way ♥️

After that all the plumbing will be pretty and new with shiny new faucets and fixtures. (I'm keeping my showerheads because I bought those myself and love them.) All the moldy waterlogged drywall will be gone and replaced with new. We'll have to prime and paint, but cosmetic stuff I don't mind. I don't know for sure, but I have a feeling that they'll need to replace some subflooring as well. We'll see. Plus, my dad said that if the ants don't go away after the plumbing fix, then he'd get an exterminator.

I recommend that you try the borax bait method!
I got a plastic lid and put about a tsp of 20 mule team borax and a drip of honey then I mixed that with a toothpick till combined.
24 hours later no more ants! And I haven't seen any in months.
If you use roach away boric asid powder instead of the borax it work's even better!

Well at least you have all the brand new fixes to look forward too then! Ants too? Your house seems determined to have every problem possible o_O
