Is There a Way to Restore a Scented Pony?

(My apologies if this isn’t exactly the correct area to post this!)

I recently found a Cherry Treats pony at a thrift store and I was wondering if there was any way to get her scent back? I’m not entirely sure, but I believe the Sweetberry ponies were scented.

I had to let her air out for a bit because she absolutely reeked of that ‘old lady house smell’ (if you know, you know), but I’m not sure what to do next…

Also, bonus question: How could I possibly get rid of that annoying purple stain on her?

Thanks in advance for any advice! :satisfied:

Oh what a cute pony!!

If acetone does nothing for that stain I'd visit the sun-fading thread. It seems pale/white ponies do pretty well for this but definitely make sure to check with fellow users whether this would be a safe move.

As for the scent, I'm not sure you can bring back out the original scent of the pony. When it comes to 're-scenting' your pony I worry because a lot of fragrances are alcohol or oil based, neither of which would be good for the pony's vinyl body. I'm not really knowledgeable enough in the chemistry of this stuff to recommend alternatives on this front, hoping someone else will have further input.

I'd recommend getting something scented to put inside of the pony instead of soaking or coating it in anything. I believe there are methods of making little scented pouches for stuffed animals you may be able to replicate here, only on a smaller scale to fit inside the pony. On this note build a bear has scented chips made of plastic I believe you can buy separately online and in store. These are to designed to be strong smelling when embedded in their plush toys, so if broken into a smaller piece to fit should work just as well in any other toy.

I hope some of this will be helpful to consider as you restore your lovely Cherry Treats! :]

I think Dollyhair had hair scents? That might be able to restore Cherry Treats' scent!

Here's what I found: https://dollyhair.com/products/doll-hair-fragrance

I guess you can just put a few drops into the mane/tail and brush it through? I wouldn't use too much and if you're worried about it reacting to the vinyl...maybe someone here has experience with it? I want to do the same with my CPK Magic Meadow Springsong pony, so keeping an eye on this thread! :)

Thanks for the tips everyone! :lolpony:

So here’s an update: I let my Cherry Treats air out for a few days and gave her a good wash, which seemed to have gotten rid of most of that weird musty smell. (I’ve never had a pony smell so strongly of attic before, so I didn’t know I’d have to wait so long… This was a new thing for me.)

I gave her a sniff test aaaand… I can kinda smell cherry? It’s mostly on her tail, though. If I’m lucky, I think I could just get away with bagging her for a while and at least then she should partially smell nice again. (I did this before with another pony I suspected was scented and it worked, surprisingly.)

I might give acetone a shot, when I muster the courage, but I’m going to stay away from sun fading entirely. I’ve never done it before, and Strawberry Treats doesn’t seem like a good pony to start trying that out with. She only has the one mark, so the worst case scenario is that I just don’t display her on that side. Out of sight out of mind, amiright?

(Those doll hair scents are super cool, by the way! Hilariously enough, Cherry Treats had some Strawberry Shortcake ponies as tagalong friends, so maybe I could use some of those scents to restore them.)

I can’t tell if my Cherry Treats has a scent or not but there is definitely something there and I don’t know if it’s cherries

Airing out G3’s work wonders for me as my Citrus Sweetheart came to me without much of a scent and now smells nice. Even my childhood Paradise Island smells still

Cherry Treats was actually my first successful fade. However, I did somehow manage to fade a bit of her mane and tail even though I thought I covered her so much? And I love that shade too but it was her body I was trying to fade (timeline).

I have heard that she is one that can burn
