Hey y'all!
I wanted to ask y'all what ponies you've had positive or negative experiences with sunfading. I'm currently sun fading a Quackers, who I've heard here and there can burn during sunfading. Perhaps we could get a list together of ponies who are safe to sunfade, as well as ponies where there is risk involved. I saw a list linked from the MLP Preservation Project similar to this, but the lists are from 2013 and seemingly haven't been updated. Perhaps a comprehensive list that stays updated can help, especially for those with UV boxes where it's hard to see the damage without checking on it frequently! I'll start with a few that I know of:

SAFE TO SUNFADE
Mint Dreams
Blueberry Baskets
Chief
4-Speed
Quarterback
Salty
Flutterbye (?)
Dancing Butterflies
Glory
Baby Glory
Merry Treats
Birthday Pony
Princess Starburst
Princess Tiffany
Tex
Scoops
TE Masquerade
Baby Quackers
Sprinkles
Tassles
Sunnybunch
Gusty

WITH CAUTION
Quackers
Starshine
Gingerbread
Nirvana Ponies
Bowtie
Cherry Treats
Ponies with neon hair and neon bodies (such as Sugarberry/Strawberry Fair and Seabreeze) as these colors fade rapidly
Confetti

NOT SAFE TO SUNFADE
Mimic
Sparkle ponies
Divine shine
Water cuties

WHAT DOES A BURNED PONY LOOK LIKE?
Attached is an image from @Draco of their sunburned Gingerbread :sadpony: Looking to find more information/examples on sunburning!

I haven’t surfaded before but I’ve heard of people having rough experiences with sun fading mimic!

I'd put Mimic under NOT SAFE. I tried fading her, within 3 hours she drastically faded and turned white where I had the salon 40 cream on.

I had a Gingerbread burn on me, I agree with risk
Quackers deveoped a weird spot, not quite burned as it increased over time outside of the UV box- not sure if its the peroxide cream that reacted or what. I'd say with caution with Quackers

and I didn't have an issue with Cherry Treats when I faded her.

Some Nirvana ponies are risky. Baby Bluebelle burned a bit.

I had success with:
Blueberry Baskets
Chief
Bowtie (though some people had issues)
Dancing Butterflies
Glory/Baby Glory
Merry Treats
Birthday Pony
Princess Starburst
Princess TIffany
Tex
Scoops
Confetti
TE Masquerade

and few others I can't think right now

i've sunfaded quackers with no issues, but going on others' experience i'd keep her under "caution".

i have no "not safes" to contribute since luckily i haven't had any mishaps, but here are some i've sunfaded with success:
chief, starshine, 4-speed, quarterback, glory, baby moondancer, salty, and flutterbye (though only one small stained section)

Don't fade any translucent ponies, i.e. sparkles, divine shines, water cuties.

Gingerbread, Starshine, and Quackers is a definite no. Unsure of Baby Quackers?

Baby Quackers faded great for me!

Funnily enough, I haven’t had any issues with Quackers so far and she’s been in the box a few days (on and off) When did you have issues with her?

I coulda swore i heard that Quackers was prone to sunburn further but I might be mistaken.

I’ve heard that a lot too. I’ve been cautious and checking on her more often than my other sunfades but I haven’t noticed any signs of burning yet.

We could rule Quackers as risky?
No Quackers! Don't look directly into the sun! *Concentrated sunbeam bounces off twinkly eyeballs. Chaos ensues*

Maybe that's why her ducky is holding an umbrella? She's such a lovely TE and has such pretty pretty eyes.

Speaking of sun-fading safety, has anyone ever sun faded a neon orange pony (ie. Seabreeze, Party Time, etc?) I have a really gnarly Seabreeze coming in with some horrific pony cancer on her face. Could sunfading help or will that just make things worse and discolor her entirely?

I’m going to be trying to fade Cherry Treats… I’m kind of worried about it since she’s on the unsafe list… Should I not?

Your Cherry Treats is the one with all the tattoos right? I've just heard really iffy things about fading her before but I don't think it's off the table. I once saw something about how the scented ponies react really poorly to being sunfaded, however I had 0 issues with fading Blueberry Baskets, so take all of this with a grain of salt. Plastic is unpredictable, strange and weird so I don't think anyone can say for certain whether or not it's safe. If you do it, I'd just routinely check on her!

Yep, that’s her. I feel I check my ponies a lot in the UV chamber so hopefully I should catch her before something happens… I hope, if I do it

Cherry Treats, they say you shouldn’t ever get tattoos you may regret why did you put yourself up for it, silly pony

I’d like to share my progress with Cherry Treats here as she is on the “unsafe” list.

So far she is going really well. No problems yet. She’s on day 4 now. She’s the Euro version, I did rewrap her tail after the update photos and yesterday I decided to do full body coats of the hydrogen peroxide, not just the tattoos. I have also been doing regular checks on her and cream changes when necessary. When I had to clean off some mosquito remains of her today with acetone, I also wiped her tattoos too and then washed her. I don’t know if that would make a difference but I’m mentioning it in case

This is amazing work! I’m going to move her to “With Caution” for now as she might just be one of those ponies that really is variable. Great job, I’m excited to see the final product!

I've added Seabreeze as I faded her recently. It went great and she's now cured of pony cancer! However, the spot that had the Salon 40 of it is now a much more dull orange than her vibrant original color. I figured it was probably cause she's so neon but I just wanted anyone to be aware of that/share their experiences sunfading with super neon ponies!
