I have a very important custom trade to finish first, but I got this new grape-purple hair from AHorseOfEveryColor on etsy and I’m really excited about how it’s going to look with a Gusty green stripe on deflocked Magic Star’s body, to make the new and improved custom of my OC, Jellybean!

Since I first designed her I’ve done some head-tilts about whether she has the best combination of colors. Complementary colors (opposites on the color wheel) like her yellow + purple can have kind of a harsh contrast with the effect of dulling each other down somewhat. So, I’m really hopeful about this more reddish tinge (which is not showing up in my pic exactly as it does IRL despite editing). It’s got more warmth than G1 Glory purple but is still a rich color that I think makes a better pairing with Magic Star’s sunny yellow. And it’s cuuurly! <3
Blah blah blah PONY COLORS! It’ll be a while before I get her done but I’ll post pics when I do.

Can't wait to see her done. Your snoozing pony has such pretty and cheerful colors.

Aw this is gonna be liiiiit!

When I got Magic Star again after all these years, I slipped back into gazing at those purple eyes and that gleaming green hair. Green, purple and yellow just really pop, you know?

I can't wait to see how it turns out. I love the colors!

I love your colors!

Right? Love Magic Star!! I think she was one of the first so-softs I got when I started collecting at 19. I found one with a hair cut but I didn't know how to re-root back then. Excited to see her with purple and green hair and green eyes!

I love your colors!
Thank you both!!

I love the bright colors and I can't wait to see her when she's done!

beautiful, striking colors, i'm glad your making it! Also love the curly hair. Somehow it is different from Lemon Drop, Princess Starburst, Music Time, etc., it is a separate character.

Done any more one this one? :ponylove:

Perfect colors:purpleheart::yellowheart:
The colors! So unexpected, so perfect.
Gosh, thank you! I’m glad they are going over so well!

There are a handful of yellow ponies with purple hair but aside from one Nirvana I can’t think of any that use dark purple! It’s always Blossom lavender! Maybe Hasbro found it too bold.

Not until your custom is done!

Motivated by the suddenly warm weather, I finally worked outside with acetone to finish up deflocking Magic Star and then found my spouse’s acetone-free nail polish remover to be effective for carefully working around her eyes and any sticky spots I missed. I did take a tiny bit of her eye paint off but that’s ok because I’ll be changing her iris color to green so I’ll touch it up then. And I’m pleased that the paint that was removed wasn’t smudged around the way acetone does it, just lifted off. I could work with the acetone-free stuff indoors and up close to my face which was nice, and then I could wash it off thoroughly with soap and water. She has been so obliging with this deflocking process (contrasting with Angel, who I’m also working on deflocking, and who is being extremely stubborn about it). It’s almost as if Magic Star is also excited to become my Jellybean!

Now that she’s dry, I’ve finally gotten started rehairing her. It’s slow going as I get used to hairing with pre-curled hair for the first time, but y’all… I am so excited for this pony.:star::rainbow1: :ponylove::rainbow2::star:

She’s real pretty with the purple eyes too… but she’ll be getting a gusty green stripe in both mane and tail, and I’ve always imagined her eyes are green, so I’ll stick with the plan!

Weeee! I am so excited!

I’m still in awe of your skill and patience to reroot using the tie and knot method.
