There are ways to stretch your dollar further. For example, I shop from my own collection/house first. Do I have any ponies my partner wants that I’m willing to part with or extras (decor or candy)?
Then I check thrift stores for vintage-y decor or cute packages/boxes/bags for wrapping.
For extras, I usually try to get the max out of my budget by shopping at my place of employment where I get an employee discount. Obviously this won’t work for everyone!
When it comes to candy (this is my favorite hack) I might buy a bag of, say, Reese’s cups, and I’ll split it between me and my swap partner. Then I can say only $3 of the $6 I paid for it counts towards the swap budget. Is that cheating? Lol.
