Most Recent Childhood Show You Revisited

Captain N the Gamemaster

I have began to rewatch the old my little pony series ( they are due to release the series and escape from catrina again very soon) But I also have watch cowboys of momasa, biker mice from mars, beast wars, Dinosaurs (fan here), Extreme Dinosaurs, Street Sharks, Gargoyles, Ducktales, Tail Spin, Goof troop, Lady lovely locks, Wild Fire, the adventures of the black stallion, Original Pokémon, Certain season of Digimon ( I like some of the season more then others), The Original TMNT and the newer one (I will not see the new movie sorry I just cant do it), Swat cats, Conan, Jem and the holograms, X-Men, Tiny toonies, Animanics, Pinky and the brain. Silver hawks, Brave Star, Transformer (Decepticon fan), Countless other shows lol.

I'm not a fan most of the more recent cartoons I've seen on Cartoon Network, but I do respect that others like them. Just not my thing. I grew up in the 80's. I loved ThunderCats, He-Man and The Masters of The Universe, She-Ra, Pole Position, Kid Video, MLP, Rainbow Brite, Strawberry Shortcake (the 80's show), Transformers, Wildfire. . . .Yeah, I loved loads of cartoons as a kid. :)

I have two younger kids so we re-live the 80s often since they like all the 'classics' On a personal childhood show, I rewatched Doctor Who this summer. (starting with Hartnell for those of you that think the series started with Tennent  )

Sorry if this a bit off topic! Personally I don't enjoy the new cartoons on TV as much as the ones I grew up with and the ones before my time. Before I say this let me apologize to anyone who enjoys these shows! I detest shows like Uncle Grandpa and Regular Show. I find them inappropriate for kids and I don't find them very creative. I love Adventure Time but it bothers me that it's a kid show. I wish they would put it on Adult Swim or only show it later in the evening. Many other cartoons that are on now I find boring, crude, and meaningless. Just because it's a kid show doesn't mean it can't have a lesson with it!

There are only a few kids shows that are now that I really enjoy. One that I absolutely love is Steven Universe. I think Steven Universe offers great morals and doesn't rely on crude humor to be funny. I also l-o-v-e Clarence. While it is gross and crude it's so true to life. It might be because I'm younger but I can relate to so many things the kids do on the show. I can remember doing and enjoying a lot of the things they do and that's why I like it. When I have kids I'm going to introduce them to the shows I liked when I was a child. I also hope to show them shows like Clarence or Steven Universe so they can enjoy a cartoon that's meaningful and is appropriate for their age.

I re watched Courage the Cowardly Dog. That show used to freak out me, my brother, and my sister! After seeing it again, we were wimps... :p

You forgot poor Christopher Eckleston and his ears!

I need to track down the older series, but I'm not sure how well I'll get into it considering I did only start watching with the 2005 reboot. I definitely want to see the movie with Paul McGann. He looks like he'd have been my kind of doctor. The same goes for Tom Baker.

Oh I did not forget him at all. Eccelston is by far my favorite doctor. I have ran into more people that see my fan girl stuff and start talking about Who and halfway in I realize that they started watching with Tennent and Smith. I just O.O and scream. You miss so much! How can you get into some of the Tennent episodes if you skip Eccelston? YOU MISS WHO ROSE EVEN IS! You miss what 9 gave up to save her and how he became 10 in the first place. You miss who the doctor was after the Time War, you miss how much he tried to make things better and how awesome it is when 'everyone lives, just this once'. The reboot is brilliant in my opinion. It is how I introduced my children and my husband to Who and now they have all watched the whole series.

Tom Baker is the doctor that I first started watching as a kid. I loved him and K-9 and Sarah Jane. They are still what I think of when I think Doctor Who and I think the reboot did so great to tie in so many little details back to the older episodes. Tom Baker was spastic and sassy and just crazy, a good opposite of McGann but I do really like both. I am a big fan of the War Doctor as well though and really enjoyed that arc.

*tucks fangirling back into the closet* as you were

Totally not off topic! I agree I'm sick of kids entertainment=stupid and gross. And I mean the characters in the show Deliberately acting stupid. Once again, we had shows like Ren and Stimpy in the 90s and Beavis and Butthead but that's no excuse for every single kid's show to have nothing but characters who go outta their way to act dumb and disgusting. I haven't been interested in new cartoons since ATLA and Phineas and Ferb. I mean we had pretty decent entertainment but c'mon animators. Humor doesn't hafta be Dumb Person eating something rotten and puking while their friends laugh.

Eureka's Castle, Grimms Fairytales, The Borrowers, Captain Planet, Wild and Crazy Kids, Reading Rainbow, Salute Your Shorts, Transformers, Tale Spin. Good stuff

Thundercats! I wish I saw those as a kid. I saw them a couple of years ago and was hooked. Great choice!

Thundercats, HO! When I was visiting @roserebellion for about a week, we delved into some vintage Thundercats episodes, and they were really entertaining! She also got me started on the reboot version (wherein Liono is voiced by Eric from Boy Meets World :ponylove:) and I really liked it. The animation was beautiful, and I'm so sad it got canceled!

There it is! I was wondering if anyone was going to mention Wildfire. Who wouldn't want a giant talking purple horse whisking them away to some kind of magical land? :winkpony:

Steven Universe is my new personal cartoon indulgence, heh heh. The style is very energetic and fun, I enjoy what they do with the art style. And while most episodes are lighthearted and fun, it can be a surprisingly serious show. I'm really glad that it doesn't shy away from some topics. I've actually got my mom hooked, so we'll sit down and watch new episodes together :) I've even got her singing the opening theme as we watch, heh heh.

But anyway, Jewel is right, I may have quite a special spot in my heart for classic Thundercats, which I was exposed to back in the mid-90's when Cartoon Network's toonami block aired reruns. Does anyone even remember that toonami had started as an afternoon block? In any case, I rewatch that show frequently now and again. A few years back I did rewatch Josie and the Pussycats, but it unfortunately doesn't hold up for me as well as Thundercats did. Sailor Moon was my foray into anime :) And every once in awhile I pop in an old Care Bears movie.

Though not a kid's show, I still watched it from third grade up until about 9th or 10th until it finished, but The X-Files was such an integral part of growing up for me. The weekly episodes was a staple for family time, and often times a source of facing irrational fears. It could be scary or funny, and now that I'm an adult especially so as a lot of the dry humor is even funnier, and a lot of things I didn't think were particularly scary in youth and now seem cringe inducing in the face of experience. Revisiting this show is always my top choice when I have a large crochet project (like an afghan) to do. It's equally fun to see how dated the tech and fashion are in it too, I confess heh heh

Jem and the Holograms

Gummi Bears, Thundarr the Barbarian, and Silverhawks recently.

You Can't Do That on Television

I started going through some of the Sesame Street songs I loved when I was little. I stumbled across this gem and it was such a nostalgia rush! I had this on tape when I was little and I played it until the tape broke. Now I play this song at least 20 times a day and my partner wants to kill me for it :lolpony:

I've started watching shows I missed out on as a kid like Blossom and Saved by the Bell...and then I throw in the old favorites like Full House. But where can one find Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?! I was hooked on that as a kid. I should try to find Ghost Writer too...
It shows on a channel called Qubo at 11 pm, Right after Archie's weird mysteries! (My dad loves that show!)

Funny enough, I was rewatching some old Jem cartoons, then went to the thrift shop and found a Stormer doll. I don't really collect Jem stuff though, so I guess I'll sell her eventually. Her hair is so soft and lovely though...

Also just got the full Johnny Quest Series 1 for Christmas. It was old when I watched it as a kid, but it's still a pretty sharp cartoon.
